Hi

I am looking into getting either a 60 or 62 BJ or FJ. I am only some what sure of what the real differences are. This is what I want it for. It will be my dd, I want that rear bench seat and I want auto. I will moderately offroad it, use it for hunting so I need to be able to travel on logging roads. I want your opinions on the subject. I am running a FJ40 right now but I need more room, I want something newer than my 77 and I am sick of standard and want an automatic badly. Thanks

Do a search, it's been talked about recently the differences between the FJ60 and the FJ62 . The BJ has the 3B and I believe the 5 speed vs. the FJ60's 4 speed.

I am not all that concerned about the differences as about that it meets my requirements. is there a major diffenece between the gas and DIESELS? Thanks

Especially since the 62 is the only one that comes with an automatic transmission.

Well, one is a gasser engine, and the other is a diesel engine.

Yes there are some differences.

If you live in the US it is going to be a chore getting a BJ/HJ in here. Not impossible, but a chore.

An HJ with an auto tranny is WAY rare too.

You wont find a BJ with an auto.

I live in Canada and have seen quite a few 60s and 62s for sale.

There's an HJ with an auto for sale about 30 miles from me...mid-west-northern-kinda Ab, Canada eh. 10K CDN. That's a long way from you guys but from what I understand it's a very nice unmolested truck. The advantage of diesel is the mileage and engine lifespan. My 2h with 390,000 km gets about 22 mi/gal running on 35's with 3.70's. HTH.

I'm new here.

I'll see what I can do. I haven't seen it in person but talked to the owner a few months ago and to another cruiser freak about it today...will try to report back with pics next week.

nah i was talking about your rig on 35s...wanted to compair it to my rig on 35s

22 MPG's??? Garth, I hate you!

Is that US gallons or Imperial gallons?

Imperial Gallons. 4.2 litres = 1 imp gal. 3.8 litres = 1 US gal...if I remember correctly. Sorry to flick your weiner...I feel your pain...my old FJ40 on 16" wide boggers was getting about 6 mi/gal.

Should also clarify that the 22 mi/gal is on the highway and because the non-turbo'd diesels are kinda gutless, I'm forced to drive like a granny.

That's about 18.32 mpg (US). Not to shabby. I get about 12 mpg (US) or 14 mpg (imperial) w/ my 2F. That's city driving, but on the highway, I get about 14-15 (16.81-18.01 imperial).

BTW, I used this converter:

The cruiser I am looking at has the round headlights and is auto and a diesel I thought 62s had square lights?

Thanks

It's more in likely a HJ60. The US only got FJ60 and FJ62. Overseas, HJ61 also had square headlights after '88 I believe.
