I had some questions from several people about these so I thought I would post for those who care. It can be done and I have been very pleased with the performance.

They are a set of Downey headers. The collector was fabricated from mandrel bent 2.25" tubing and a flowmaster y connector. I used 1 high flow Dynatech converter, a flowmaster 70 series muffler, a baffle from Jegs as well as 3" mandrel bent tubing.

When I first finished it was loud. That was when I added the baffle for about 1 pony. It has noticably quicker pick-up although I haven't measured it at the track. It also has a great flowmaster sound during hard acceleration.

The exhaust is now much higher up under the body next to the frame. I am looking forward to putting sliders on soon, but I will have to modify any design to account for the abscense of low hanging, power robbing converters.

Any noticable change in gas mileage?

Wow..very cool.. The drawback for many of us who would do that type of mod is you had to fabricate several items such as the collector and outsource some of the baffles. It would be nice if a "kit" was fabbed like Gibson is doing for the 100 series. Looks great!

Mileage is very good as long as I keep my foot out of the skinny pedal. But I have not tracked it closely after the mod. I was averaging about 18mpg before.

I like to think it is better now aside from the fact that I find myself driving faster more often after the mod.

I had help from a friend with a shop. It was a very tight fit and I imagine that a 100% plug and play kit may be hard to duplicate.

Jamisobe, it's beautiful piece of art.Im surprised, it almost same as JDM isometric mandrel bent 80-s exhaust manifold.

Thanks. I am not familiar with the JDM isometric exhaust manifold. You gotta link?

Gotta call B.S. on that.

Either that's a typo, or you flunked math. No 1FZFE in a modded 80 gets 18. Maybe downhill for 100 miles. Best honest case is landtank, who, finely tuned, averages maybe 16 in constant highway driving according to his posts. My weekend only driving nets 12-13 unless I get out on the road, where I might see 14.5, if I'm not pulling the boat. Not to flame, but come on, man.:D

I won't swear by it. But that was the rough estimate I figured years ago, before any major mods, based on a 24 gallon capacity. I had the K&N air filter, flowmaster muffler, high flow cat, and synthetic oil installed. I'll have to check on it again though tire size is now changed as well as the entire exhaust.

That's O.K., I was just being a smart a$$. If I do my mileage by seat of the pants math, I wind up not driving it. The construction estimator in me rounds the other way.....:D

I am, however, interested in the performance results of the headers. Not being rich like Romer, I can't run out and buy a supercharger tomorrow, and I want a bigger boat. (dilemma - power for pulling or something to pull) Woops, just read the part about the K&N. Be sure to have your oil sampled by Balckstone occasionally. I had a K&N from the P.O. and my first sample was full of silicone (Dirt). Switched out the K&N, back to normal.

I know one thing for sure. All math aside, the more I get into the powerband the faster my gas mileage heads for single digits.

Roger that. I used to have a modded dodge with cummins for a work truck. With the 5 speed, she would get almost 20 if I kept my foot out. I had a tank that I got 6 mpg on...

I understand that reusing the K&N is a bad thing because of the oil coating the MAF. Ive never heard of a dirt contamination problem before.
