I have this 6.2 diesel sittin in my garage that I'm trying to find an application for. The wifey wants a four door suv, so I thought well they make kits to swap in a 350 with a 700r4 so why not just do the 6.2 instead??

from the research I've done there is a bellhousing adapter that goes to the factory auto in the fj62. Would this slushbox be able to handle the tourqe?? "maybe with a different converter"??

If it would be better to go with a 700r4 would there be a better year or model to do this swap?? "read the wife likes the one with the round headlights 60series"

Would this diesel block be too much weight??

There are a few who have done a 6.2 into a 60. Search the 60 section. I looked into this myself for my '62 due to the available adapters but I got scared off by the reliability issues with the block. Some seem to have had good luck though. Torque and HP seem about right for a 60. With an A440f tranny you might want to look at a Wholesale Transmission's valve body and low stall converter. thanks for info!!! I know these diesels well but I'm new to the toyota LC. I have a military 6.2 these blocks hold up really well!! so I'm not concerned about that!! sounds like the a440f might be good to go!!

Moby sumed up the conversion. I have talked to Rodney at extreme trans over in OZ about it a good bit. This is a common swap for them over there.

sent you an email.

6.2 in FJ60

I did one back in July this year and 7,000 miles on it, couldn't ask for more, I am getting 21 to 23 miles to the gallon driving it hard town & country made all the mounts myself did it with a Ranger O/D unit, It has gear noise in the O/D unit, which is my only complaint, but I getting ready to do a FJ62 with 6.2 and a 700R4 setup. I think that will be nice setup O/D with lockup convertor. Will see.

I Have had 5 Vehicles with 6.2s in them, 2 of which I still have, these are conversions that I did, one in a short bed GMC pickup with auto. gets 25 miles to the gallon avg. 30 on the interstate. my son is putting 600 miles a week on it and the other is in an 83 FJ60 I drive for my work and put over 300 miles a week on it and I have had no problems with any of them. Take that back just put an alternator on the pickup this weekend, gave up on the way back from Goldsborg, N.C. But no engine related problems at all.
