Looking for a bumper for my 2001 LC. Currently, I use my bumper to push down saplings and hit shopping carts at Walmart. I don't want something that will survive an impact with a dinosaur but something that is similar in shape to stock but made of metal. Any suggestions?

Ok, here's the deal. I once had a 66 cj5 and when I went on the trails I could wash it and hit the bumpers with a coat of matte black paint. With the LC my bumper looks like crap with all of the marks from brush. I really don't want the whole brush guard look but if there was a bumper made of steel that looked like a stock bumper I'd like it. I guess the purist in me would suffer if I put on one of those really big steel bumpers with the brush guard attached because I'd feel like a poser. My LC is 90% wait, my wife won't accept one of those zombie crushing bumpers. I said it, so don't make me feel bad. I need a bumper that lets me push down trees but doesn't look like something made in my garage.

You could look at the Slee bumper and see if it isn't too utilitarian for your taste. Other than that and the Arb mentioned above, there aren't really options stateside...

I'd say TJM T3 classique with hoop removed. Here is Steenh's

There was also an Australia OE one called the Estate Bull Bar. Remove the hoop and paint it and it would like your OEM one.

Eh...spray paint your bumper black. Keep a can handy for daily touch ups.

BTW, those bumpers listed above are all $1,000+. Not sure what your budget is.

I'm like you in that I want to keep a stock look. I'm going to keep my stock bumpers until I rip em off on something. I don't plan to wheel too hard, so that could be awhile. If/when I go steel bumper, tjm pictured above is the best looking option IMO. Though I recall reading something about it not accepting larger winches, I really like the look.
