finally got it! 4 hrs later. was able to bend the top of the broken piece to a point then run the cable up which pushed the old piece out. I don't think I needed to remove the spool housing but learned how to do it in the mean time. tks for the help.

i have a 96 with the smooth cord. the cable is fine and goes up and down but the last section of the mast is broke off down in the fender area. i have read the threads but unsure how to get at it. I tried to use needle nose to just pull at it from the top, didn't work. if i get at it from...
if you hold the top nut you can move the whole shoock back and forth, im going to try to tighten both nuts tonight and see if that works, trying to get the gold nut off to replace my antenna now, not going to good
shock bushings
ok, so finally had time to look at the shocks. if you grab the nut on top you can move it back and forth about 1/4 in either direction. sounds like the source of the noise?? can you replace the bushings or should I just put new shocks on? I believe these might be the orginal...
will try, not very handy, is it a fairly easy thing to do??. I had someone do the sway bar for me. wish I new more just haven't had the time to get into the mechanics.

I've only checked two local tire shops so far but neither will install 285's for me, say there over 3% larger then stock, also that 285's will cause engine, brake and tranny problems. With as many people that run these I can't believe this is the case? I would like to run 285's, alot...

I am getting a 80 with stock mich's on it. There going to be needing replaced (the mich's are a little to much$) so I am looking for a good light off-road tire. BFG?? toyo?? any recommendations or pic's. the truck will not be off roaded, just want something with a little tread that looks nice...
