i've been semi dailying my bat 80 for about 3 years now. 10k/year. bought it a 97k miles. its not my only car though. for my commute i love it. usual maintenance with nothing major unexpected. prefer it for road trips but the wife much prefers the gx. oh and it gets babied at the dealer ;)
Yeah thats why I asked. Good to know. Thanks. The names are weird but they know their parts and they speak english. oh well, back to the drawing board...
i'm still in the prelim stages. There are a few of them. Don't seem new, lots of followers if that means anything. Have a good supply of 70 and 80 series parts mainly. I still need to do a video call with them to look at the part since its a big one, the bed of a Hilux. Not sure where they are...
Looking for parts for a Hilux actually but from a cruiser dealer over IG. Its a larger purchase for body panels so a little hesitant. Don't know if I'll be able to find the part locally. Other options are much more expensive like importing a donor vehicle or traveling myself to the middle east...
I like the ARB side steps but don't want the fender rail connecting to the front bumper. Issue is if you don't use that the front of the step is sort of cut out and looks incomplete. Any other options out there? I know most use sliders I guess but don't really need them.
Dobinsons 1.75", 285/75 K02, ARB bumper with Warn Evo 10s. Was able to do it all myself except for the control arm bushings. Very happy with the results. Thanks for the advice as always.
Thank you. So when the rear shocks came packaged from Dobinsons that extra retainer I added wasn't part of the pre assembled stack, it was in a bag on its own. It just made sense to add because the retainers have indexing holes of complementary sizes to center the top shaft, like in the front...
So the front shocks went in no issue. Rear hardware was a little tricky. I may have added an extra retainer on the top mount between the lower cushion and the mounting bracket. It just seemed like the bracket needed a retainer on both sides to keep it all centered. Looked at the FSM and it seems...
Well I listened to the above sage advice, and my 9 year old, and perhaps my inner 9 year old, and went with the 80. Its just something I've always wanted to do. The GX is new and I can always do it at a later date. Plus the 80 just works better as a camper vehicle. The inside is a box with the...
I’ll throw one more potential vehicle into the mix. 1st gen Tacoma. V6. Double cab. 110k miles. Nearly perfect condition. Issue is modifying this for camping would require a gfc camper or something similar since can’t sleep in the back and I don’t want to use a tent anymore. But suspension...
Have had many Toyotas, old, new and even JDM, but never significantly modded them. Currently deciding on which one to mod. Main use is a part-time DD, and a truck to take my son camping (we made a sleeping platform in the back). Maybe a few road trips, but no real off roading, just beach and...
