Over 40,000 miles on my first 80 series with no issues with the Marlins. And the current truck has over 50,000 with no issues yet on the Marlins. This debate will rage back and forth I figure, but for me the Marlins have worked great thus far. Hopefully haven't jinxed myself for when the front...
PM a guy in the Greater Vancouver area known here on MUD as "70s guy". He has done this and put a 5 speed in as well. He might be able to give some pointers
I use OEM parts basically for everything but thought I would try this out for the less than $30. See the link below. I have had this part in for 2 weeks as well as replacing all vacuum lines and have had no P401 code since...doesn't mean it won't come back but...
When I did auto glass we used a 'hook tool' for putting in metal strip into rubber gasket as the previous pic showed. This is what the 60 series windshields were like in the North American market. The link below shows a hook tool.

This is exactly what I just did a few days ago and it only cost the Amazon price. It appears to be a better place than the original -at least easier to get to if ever need to again.
Current 80 has had Marlin seals for over 20K miles and my first 80 (which my neighbour now owns has the Marlin seals that I put in it over 50K miles ago. Neither have any issues.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that Larry Miller Co. owns both American Toyota (CDan) and Proffitt's Cruisers (Onur).
And to keep this tech, parts can be had from either of them and also Lowe Toyota, amongst other venders here on MUD.
Have gone flareless with my Moonstone Pearl 80 and now need to deal with holes. Would like pics of grey Al's liner as I cannot decide between black and grey. Thanks.
Just got the exact same one from Princess Auto in BC on clearance for $20! Just got the chain plate you mentioned and now just got to get to powder-coated.
Custom-made by my fabricator/friend. Just need to bolt down the center clamps and cut off the rubber gasket I used between the rack and the truck for protection.
I just came from the powdercoaters (used Santex Black) with my aluminum roof rack designed for my RTT. Last summer the tent was placed on 4 Yakima bars as the first pic shows. I wanted something a little lower profile that is able to carry my water and extra fuel containers as well as the tent...
Welcome to the LC 80 sickness! Sounds like you've done a bunch of work since you bought the truck. As for your questions:
1. I don't know much about so won't comment
2. Still don't know much about this but have a very little amount of experience. Do you have 15" or 16" wheels? If you have...
IdahoDoug will get back to you. CD comes with parts list and tool list IIRC. The boys at American Toyota in New Mexico are an amazing help as stated above.
There is no "probably" about it, the views down the BC coast are amazing! I live on Vancouver Island so I am a little biased but we live in a pretty sweet part of the world.
