    Anyone running 285/75/16 without lift?

As many have stated, I also run 285/75/R16s with no rubbing, spacers, or issues. Marked improvement in looks, slight improvement in clearance, minimal detriment to gas mileage or steering geometry. I bought five and the fifth fits fine in the spare slot, including with the "raised spare tire".

Should Have known Better. 94 FZJ80 AFM from China

Thanks you're right, we should get AFM added to the FAQ abbreviations section. At any rate, I pulled mine apart and messed it up 5 years ago; bought a used one from CruiserParts LLC that has worked ever since.

Should Have known Better. 94 FZJ80 AFM from China

Are you talking about your Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor?

    Official bad bolts thread.

The inner mounting bolt on the fuel filter (FZJ80) is pretty special too...my PO evidently said "f#@k it" and just left it off.

    Official bad bolts thread.

Alternator tensioner lock bolt. The lower, 12mm bolt. Pretty sure it comes rounded from the factory...you need to loosen it when you change your belts.

Brakes work poorly, excessive pedal travel.

If you have to push really hard on pedal to stop it ("hard brake pedal") you probably need a new brake booster. Can be a pain in the neck to install but definitely doable,:banana: job.

    Builds A 1994 FZJ80 rejuvinated

Wow...glad I stumbled across this thread, very inspiring. Must have driven past any number of times (on way to Parker Canyon Lake etc.); never knew you were there, I am overdue for a hospitality call. Now I know where to take my truck if I get in over my head (or for that incessant rear main...

    Help Removing Brake Booster

I am RR'ing mine now. Old booster is out (did NOT need to lift engine), going back to parts store for core refund. I'm putting in a refurb'ed unit, but I needed to order both front and rear gaskets so waiting for the mail. Since I had to wait anyway, I went ahead and painted the new-to-me...

New FAQ topic - Radio Install Aftermarket and others

Year of truck: 1994 FZJ80 with original "delux" (i.e., LX450 equivalent?) system (2 din head unit (HU) with CD and cassette, 9 speakers: 2xdash, 2x front doors, 2x rear doors, 2x 3rd row tweeters, 3rd row amp/subwoofer) Condition of existing system (my addition): CD player wouldn't play. Both...

    Tail Light/Brake Light help

Hi mellowdave, I have had that exact (I mean exact) same issue. First on the right side, and then on both sides. For me it turned out to be a ground short in the taillight housing. This is the white wire going separately to the side of the taillight/brakelight housing. It goes up through the...

    What's wrong with your 80?

Old-truck things I haven't fixed yet--CD player is toast. Can't lower DS window without it pitching forward (regulator busted). Door contacts for courtesy (dome) lights don't work right, so have to keep domes off. Rear main seal leaks so lose about a quart of oil every 1200 miles. Moon roof...

    Catastrophic Knuckle Failure

There was no degradation to my steering until the last stud sheared. And since the other three studs probably just worked loose and dropped out, I never heard them.

    Catastrophic Knuckle Failure

OK thanks. I bought a replacement hardware kit from NLXTACY; it has torx heads and comes with a matching socket--nice. Will attempt to remove the sheared stud end with an ez-out. Thank you for the install tips. If steering remains gimpy after I replace the studs, I'll replace the knuckle...

    Catastrophic Knuckle Failure

Cleaned off sheared stud end from post #7. I guess this thing is a hero because it was keeping my steering together by itself until it failed. I have the cone washer, flat washer, and nut back on. I'm told there is supposed to be a fitting on the end of this stud so it can be torqued into...

    Catastrophic Knuckle Failure

After doing some reading, I'm wondering whether my knuckle studs all sheared or maybe the first three just backed out and the last one sheared?
