What is the difference between putting 1.5" spacers on the front axle of a 40 and getting the sky-manufacturing axle widening kit? Seems to me they do exactly the same thing. Is the sky kit just a safer way to go?

This sounds like the way I have it wired now.
I am not sure about the yellow wire though.
It works fine as far as starting and charging but when I turn off the key the truck continues to run.
Any electrical wiz's out there?
I have a sbc in my 40. When I replaced my alternator a while back my battery started draining down every few days.
I wired it like the instructions said and it starts and charges ok but the engine will not shut off when I turn off the key.
If I turn the 2 prong...
Yes, the spacer is the Toyota one. The only thing I can think it would be is that maybe the depth of the recess for the bearing in the t-case is not deep enough. Suppose it is possible that Toyota did not mill it deep enough. Maybe a rough day on the assemby line back in '69.
It take two hands and I could barely turn it. I am in nuetral in the tranny and the input gear is not even on the t-case yet. No thinner retainer rings, trying a thicker gasket tonight
I didn't have it in place originally. I put it in and still get the same result. A guy at the local tranny shop suggested a thicker gasket between the adapter and t-case. What do you think?
Did your conversion require you to install the bearing retainer ring on the bearing furthest from the tranny. If I get a thicker gasket and don't use the ring it might work.
I just received my adapter plate and have started assembly.
I am going by the extreme bends write up and I have run into a snag. With everything seperate I can easily turn the main shaft in the 420. When I get the t-case, adapter and tranny bolted together I can not longer turn the shaft. With...
i found an electrically activated pnuematic switch from a 95 4runner that will actuate the 2/4 lever similiar to the way an ARB works. i will put a momentary rocker switch with an indicator light that tells me when its in 4 wheel drive. should be cool if it works.
has anyone kept the vacuum linkage?
i have a 76 without the lever on the dash. i am trying to find an electrical/mechanical switch i can install.
any suggestions? ???
