I use an old amp and an RCA -> Headphone jack cable hooked to the input. Amp sits in a metal box on the rear fender well. Cell phone does the work of the head unit.
If the pig and 40 have the same steering set up, then all you need is the pump, box and a mount fabbed up from two pieces of angle iron. In fact, I think all I changed was the box and pump, then left everything else as-is.
Wrapping is a great way to mummify the remains of what once was a good header.
I think its always a bad idea for something that is exposed to the elements like these trucks.
I know! I was thinking a thin piece of aluminum bent up to fit between the tank and exhaust. Some stand-offs could have been tacked to the muffler and the heat shield bolted to them.
While you're at it, maybe install some aluminum on the tank with JB Weld or whatever to act as a heat shield, and put in something to prevent the exhaust from moving close again. Something as simple as a short piece of stainless cable to act as a limiting strap.
Dont waste time with the leaf springs, especially if you're going to replace them.
You'll never see them. Just hit 'em with a power washer to knock the funk off and spray hot oil to encapsulate any rust. Wipe off oil when done.
Nice heat on your stiffening plates.
What is the thickness of the bracket? Can you relocate the pump to the front side of it?
How about cutting the bracket where its welded to the plate which is bolted to the block and adjusting it there?
When I built a second PS pump mount, I used dental floss to align the pulleys.
Check to see if the adjustment rod was torqued correctly last year. If it wasnt locked down properly, it will eventually work its way down the thread and wont disengage the tranny as well.
Also, I'd just check the clutch to see if your son hasn't run through it yet.
