Brakes still randomly build pressure to cause undrivable dragging, everything replace

Chris finally has consistent brakes, thanks to talking to Mark and lots of patience. For the last two years all he has done has worked on trying to line out his brakes. Now he has the truck stopping without any surprises. He is so used the working on brakes that the free time is killing him...

    3FE FJ40 RTCustoms build.

I just told Makaidi that you are going to fix "her" truck up and that you named it BIONIC BLUE. She said, "Cool. I like that name!!":bounce::bounce2:

    3FE FJ40 RTCustoms build.

You just made my day, and Makaidi's too. I sure did hate to see her cut up. That is we bought her back-to save her from the crusher!!! Have you figured out this disease yet? It seems like you buy one Land Cruiser, and pretty soon you want/have a whole flock.

    3FE FJ40 RTCustoms build.

I think my nine year old daughter :princess:has now wrapped Alex around her finger. She asked him to take very good care of Ol' Blue because it was supposed to be her truck when she got big. I think he got kinda teary eyed. He told me as he drove off to tell Makaidi :princess:he would take...

Dallas area cruiserheads-I need help with my build!

Sounds like a deal either way. You are about two hours apart. Z: you and the guys drive to Dallas or Alex can load his junk up and head to Longview. Alex, if it helps, their shop is located real close to I-20 in a pretty secure area on the campus. Great bunch of cruiserheads and very...

Dallas area cruiserheads-I need help with my build!

Z: LSLC Roundup is in March. Check out the thread on it in the LSLC section under clubs. I wish I could help you with the truck, but unfortuately my job makes me work days, evenings and nights and weekends. The ribs do sound tempting, though. :hhmm:Now, if you can talk those Le...

    69 FJ40 'F' to 85 '2F' swap

I've done this swap. '70 F for '81 2F. Better oiling and more power (marginal) in the 2F. Easy swap. As far as value goes you can always keep the F and put it back in later shuld you sell. The only modern things I used on the 2F was the distributer (lose the points), water pump, oil cooler. The...

    1969 Fj40 Brakes

I had the same problem on my 40 (same as in exactly!). Ended up being that the Push rod for the master cylinder was adjusted too short. Adjust it out in half turn intervals until you have pedal. Chris

Safety of Stock FJ40 Seat Mounts

I recently started a new job. When I went to buckle up after climbing on a fork lift, my trainer started yelling at me. He told me never to buckle up because if I tipped the truck over I would need to jump clear and they should have told me this in my mandatory fork lift training class. :doh...

    headrer queston (2F)

I've the the same thing on my '70. I had to use a couple of large flat washers to allow two of the nuts to grab the header. Other than that it fits just fine. Might be just the haeder I got Chris

    69 FJ40 Project

Just pulled the windsheild on my 70. All came off %$#@^ . Some did require the impact driver. Be sure you are placing counter clockwise pressure to the driver as you are whacking it with hammer. Didn't work for me until this slight modification. Dang my rookieness. Chris

are the man-a-fre headers worth getting?

I use the same header. Machined the manifold ports before the install and used SOR kevlar header gasket. No leak issues. Swapping in a 2F in place of the F. so I'lll start the test over. I also replaced the carb at the same time so as far as performance goes I don't know which helped more. The...

    Top Speed in a 40 ?

Had my pinion nut leave it's assigned post at about 35MPH. Third member sucked in the pinion gear instantly locking up the rear axle. Truck slowly spun a 180 on dry pavement. It leaned alot  but never went over. BTW the hardtop was on. (The third member did not survive  ) Chris

    '72f to '75 2f

I'm currently swapping an '81 2F into my '70 FJ40. So far it's looking pretty straight forward. I'm going to retain my original bell housing. This makes you pull the clutch assembly and allows you to inspect the clutch. It also allows you to keep the slave cylinder on the drivers side. One...

    Top Speed in a 40 ?

My stock "70 did 70mph back and forth to work (40+miles) on a daily basis. The F finally crapped on me. Not saying that kind of driving did it in, but I can't rule it out either. I'll test this theory with the rebuilt 2F I'm putting back in her :bounce:

    Harmonic Balancer

Yea I saw Butchs' PICS on that. Found a new balancer and getting it delivered to Round Up ( thanks Jeff ). It wasn't loose until I pulled the nut. However once it was off I found the key was gone and the crank was chipped at the key slot. No PICS yet. Gonna try replacing the key and then using...

    Harmonic Balancer

Hello all, Swapping a 2F into my '70 FJ40. Pulled the Harmonic balancer to replace the front seal and found it was cracked down the hub. Sorry no PIC (camera awol). Will the one off an F fit a 2F?
