It’s really good stuff. They are really knowledgeable folks. I found them through Real St and their awesome Supra engine tear downs and rebuilds on YouTube. They do a tour and sold me on giving it a try.
One of their engineers has entertained a ton of my questions. He’s been in the industry a...
I don’t disagree with that.
The unfortunate part is that these trucks get unfairly dinged for mileage. They get lumped in with the rest of the market that can’t handle the 300-400k mile life.
The non-cruiser heads out there, especially the older generations, are aghast when someone says...
I would appreciate some feedback please.

Here is how I look at this one. Just giving thoughts. Some of this is informing me of what to expect further. Feel free to pick apart my thoughts it will only help get to a better understanding.

Here a link to a sub 100k mile truck. Asking is $35k and been on the market for 2 weeks. I would assume this is a ih8mud member.
I agree that my +10-15% is general for a vehicle right at 100k. The price increase would be a curve not...
Agreed that not all service records indicate good care.
I used the best dealership in town for a new 4runner we bought and serviced it for there for the warranty period only. I wanted it to work out but ultimately getting a stamp in my maintenance booklet was not worth the headaches and lack...
I tried my best to figure out a “sweet spot” on mileage and age. I love the idea of a low mile truck but the price point I was in pushed me toward older models. I came to a conclusion that if I could find one with good service records every 5-10k miles and was in decent condition and cleanliness...
I don’t disagree but right, wrong, or indifferent, KBB will “inform” the market to some degree.
Also, for AutoTrader be sure to knock off for dealers markup and usually those prices include paying the tax, tag, and title.
I put these numbers together the first week of January. Went and bought my 2015 LX 2 weeks later in the range I have shown. Drove 520 miles one way. Used a weekend and enjoyed the trip.
Again, this was my experience and certainly will not be everyone else's.
I do not wholly disagree with this and can see how this could be somewhat slippery. However, I took the numbers I found on the websites and did not cherry pick best prices or best vehicles. I tried to pull averages so I knew what ballpark to expect and help guide me where to look and feel more...
This is my best stab at it and many will come up with other ways to assess. Just want to share my process and experience with my predictions. There are exceptions to all rules.
Yes, if you go to a dealership they will have LC and LX listed for $2-5k or more above the "fair" price listed. Some...
Long story but pulling data from as many online sources as I could (KBB, NADA, AutoTempest, Auto Trader, Edmunds, etc.) using as similar of detail parameters I could (year, color, mileage, standard/ base model ammenities, average condition). Each gave a little different info and had to "account"...
