Have you driven it in any mud recently? The mud will dry out on the exteror of the radiator between the fins and block air flow. Just throwing out ideas. Thermostat upside down maybe?
Yeah i know.... but the only way to know if his tranny is getting hot due to a leak or low fluid easily would be a gauge. I still say its useless but this is fun.

for general wheeling i vote side turnout exhaust instead of under the bumper. wont get crushed and most muffler shops will just give you a simple 90 to weld on. so cheapest and potentally could save your entire engine.
thats not completly true. for instance a ford f250 has an 12,500ish tow cap and only weights a little under 8,000. semi trucks, have a 80,000 limit including the truck which weighs a little more than 20,000. that leaves 60,000 pounds or so three times its weight. not trying to be a dick just my .02
