Never thought I would see that! Yes very interesting that they have a kit for the 60 of all vehicles. It amazing that they jumped in value in just 10 years like they did. I used to pick them up for under 3-4k all the time in the 2000’s. Now they are in the $20k+ range. You can get fj40’s for...
Ha! I was just stumbling around in the old MUD basement myself and @powderhound was my original handle from back in 2003. I was all in the alternative power game back when gas prices shot up the first time in the 2000's. Wish I still had that 82 FJ60 and regret selling it everyday especially for...
Nice looking cruiser! I wish I had the room for it. None of my previous FJ60's had a working A/C so I wouldn't worry so much about it. It would be quite rare to have one that the A/c is working. Would be a good truck for Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, etc. GLWS! As stated before, figure what you...
Another easy way to tell is the cloth seat pattern changed as well as the headliner material in '87. A vinyl hooped headliner was used up till 86, felt-type material from '87 on. Wider pattern safari-style seat material in grey/blue and tan/brown used in '86 and older.
Start checking out @wngrog 's patina builds for good ideas. He uses the CityRacerLLC wheels and other components. City racer has good prices on their parts too.
Congratulations on the new 2 u rig. 60's are simple and great trucks to work on compared to the newer LC's.
Hard to believe there are still low mile 60's still around. Love the interior safari brown color and with no ripped driver seat, unbelievable. The poo brown exterior is another deal though, but heh, low miles regardless. Looking forward to the build up as always! Are you going to keep the carb...
Love those safari stripes on the upholstery. Yours is pretty nice compared to most, minus the driver's seat rip that is always common. You could go really period correct and get some sheepskin covers.
Great story, good looking cruiser. Enjoy the experience.
I picked up my last 60 in Coere d'lane, ID after buying it sight unseen on ebay for $2500(year was 2008). Flew into Spokane, WA, met the buyer and finalized purchase. I then drove for two days through Montana and Idaho, back to Colorado...
It happens when you least expect it. I remember that day we had already conquered the tough stuff, then I got lazy and felt invincible, that's when it happens. Smile, cause that's all you can do. Everybody on the trip wanted to take poser pics with the cruiser. We winched it back over, checked...
