Been really loving these LEDs for driving a lot at night in the mountains. The harness makes it really easy to swap these in, really great product. (The stock lights are downright dangerous on rainy twisty roads at night) But I did a little test today in the snow. Drove for about 30 minutes at...
I got mine tinted at 75% visible light, which was the lightest tint they had. Blocks 99% of UV and 92% of IR apparently. I really like it since it retains the stock look but much more comfortable inside year round. It was $900 including windshield in a HCOL area.
I just installed mine too, pretty easy.
For the relay box, I trimmed the plastic a bit to make it fit on the body bolt in the instructions. It was interfering with the adjacent body bolt otherwise. On the driver side I saw the same bolt was sheared off (wtf?) but I was able to use a different...
I broke my ball joint trying to adjust the drag link on mine after installing the 80 series steering box. I don't understand mechanically why/how the 60 series box can be back-driven, i.e. if you rotate the pitman arm/sector shaft, the steering input shaft will correspondingly move (how can a...
I would love to upgrade my lights on the 62, but I am worried about the performance when it's nuking snow in Colorado and the headlights getting blocked. Anyone have experience? What would be awesome is if the load resistor for making the high beam dash light work was instead a heating element...
Sorry to hijack this a bit. Hoping for some insight.
I recently replaced all my FJ62 steering linkage with a kit from @cruiseroutfit, at the same time I finally installed my OME steering stabilizer that I've had in the box for two years from @cruiseroutfit
I noticed that the drag link...
Here's the unsolicited account of my mini-saga I had replacing the box, so future internet people can learn:
My FJ62 box was original with 330k miles, and it had a lot of play. I tightened the top screw a little. But coincidence or not, my box started leaking a lot shortly after. I would say...
Well the shop I bought to it was not interested at all, despite having "reaming" in the name :flipoff2:
I'm thinking of just buying the Toyota TRE reamer to do it myself: Taper Reamer - https://www.lceperformance.com/Taper-Reamer-p/2051613.htm
Taper between the two arms is the same, but the...
The steering box on my '90 FJ62 started leaking something fierce lately. So I ordered an 80 series box with the 105 series sector shaft:

It came with the larger...
My 3FE is remanufactured that the previous owner had installed. It's only got 60k on it, and I've got a ton of oil change records for it. So I hope it doesn't have junk floating around in it.
It's a head scratcher indeed. I was talking to my friend about this "drain down" time. But I don't think it's an issue. When the oil was way low, I checked multiple times as I added the 2.5qts. The oil was hot at that point and should flow down easily.
Just now I did a test:
Engine was sitting...
Okay I got it to show exactly full (top of the hash marks). Total oil siphoned out was just under 2qts. So somehow 2qts was hiding in my engine, but only reappeared after I added 8qts of fresh oil?
Timeline:
Saturday drove like 150 miles.
Checked oil at the end of the drive, not showing any...
I've got a similar problem right now on my FJ62. On Saturday I was driving for a few hours. I filled up gas at the end and I was alarmed to see no oil on the dip stick. I ended up adding 2.5 qts to get it to show full again.
It was about time for an oil change anyway, so I drained the oil and...
