Update on the 2GC Large Bore Sniper, the initial idle surging problems were simply solved by messing with the mixture tuning for awhile. In case it helps someone else in the future; I had the mixture for idle set up too lean, thinking 14.7 being stoichiometrically 14.7 ideal but it actually...
Running a powersurge tank or is your pump in the gas tank or is it in-line? In-line pumps overheat and have a shorter life. Post some pics of the setup and information about your settings like target fuel ratio and idle and etc.
A few important things that should be noted:
The bearing nut needs to be tightened to a precise amount of pressure on the bearing, some people use fish weight scales attached to the studs to measure out the resistance of the rotor to turn. Too much pressure the bearing will overheat, too little...
thanks! I mounted it to the firewall kinda nestled under the wiper motor and between the AC lines/washer fluid tank. its pretty close, but worked out fine. I put a small block under the lower screws because the firewall isnt flat there, top screw was on a protrusion.
I have a cap on the vac...
Lots of Sniper builds, but haven't seen many 2GC large bore snipers so here is what I did. Advantage of the 2GC is it looks better than the 2300 in this situation and it fits directly to the stock air cleaner assembly. I designed and machined an adapter between the manifold and 2GC. I still...
If he’s using the stock fuel pump it has a return on it. It normally doesn’t push more than 3psi before feeding into the return
Did the Weber come off some other car or different altitude? Maybe it has the wrong jets in it?
Well, usually a vacuum leak makes it go lean which might increase the rpm or make it tumble and run roughly, but usually not completely kill the engine. When it is warming up does it rev fine when you push the throttle?
Sometimes vacuum leaks show up only after warming up, manifold is aluminum, head is steel so they have different expansion rates so over time sometimes the manifold gaskets give out. The manifold sometimes warps a bit so doesn’t seal so well so people put on the thick squishy gaskets and those...
Did this run nicely at one time and just now out out of the blue started acting this way? Have you ever taken the manifold off the engine/new manifold gasket? Is it still married to the exhaust manifold or are you running headers? Are you using a carb insulator or just manifold/manafre...
The Carb cooling fan is also for cooling the brake master cylinder, because brake fluid pulls humidity out of the air and if it is old enough there is enough water to boil and lock up the brakes. So in most well maintained vehicles its not needed but for long term reliability they found the fan...
Don't know if you still need it but I saw this Craigslist ad for a tank:

@A62 you probably moved on, but in case yours is still hanging by zip ties; I put my VC120 in my 60 and had to take the brackets out completely first and form them around the new canister's body diameter lightly hitting the straps with a rubber mallet and it bolted up ok. bit of cursing and...
I've also experienced a fan that wasn't working and the brake master cylinder lines heated up enough to feel the brakes dragging and slowly locking up, so it was also to cool the brake stuff I think. If it has good clean brake fluid this isn't a problem, but if it has some old brake fluid in it...
