Rear Axle Shafts Hard to Install?

Turned out that everything was totally aligned. According to ARB instructions “use a light tap to insert the axles”, we did persuade the axles with some soft hammer taps and they seated fully. Thanks guys.

Rear Axle Shafts Hard to Install?

Hi guys, I just put a new ARB locker in my rear axle. I put in new bearings and seals while I was in there. Now I'm installing the axle shafts and they are TIGHT. They easily slide in until the last couple inches. The shaft is aligned with the teeth inside the diff. I can easily turn the third...

I can obviously get the C clips into the axle shafts. I’m just not sure how you keep them from falling out. The yoke is in the way.

Help Needed: FJ60 Rear Axle Arb Locker RD153 Install Axle Shaft Retention

Hey guys. Need help with the installation of the axle shafts into the ARB locker. The instructions do not mention the process of retaining the axle shafts with the C clips. Can someone please outline the process? Reading this thread there is mention of the thrust retainer but looking into the...

Hi everyone! My 60 build has slowed down a bit. But if you want to keep up with my FJ40 12HT, axle, locker, and frame-off build, here is a link! https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fj40-12ht-swap-60-series-axles.1282462/

My oh MY it has been a while. A few things have changed with the 60. But for now, some pics of my birthday toyota trip (and my custom chainsaw/water can/propane tank holder system on its first trip)

60 series porn (pictures of the kind that get people like us excited!)

I use my JDM HJ61 as my daily work rig. Its an absolute work beast. My mobile shop, welding rig, and takes me all over the mountains of Northern California. Here are some pics. 12HT, H55, cable lockers, SOA, rusty as hell. Not a single dent.

H55F --> Bellhousing alignment dowels? Cant find them anywhere.

Hi guys. Im putting an H55F into my 40, and my new transmission didnt come with the alignment dowels that center it on the bellhousing. The old ones on my 4 speed are in very rough shape (trany was from a wrecker). If anyone knows where I could track down a set of alignment dowels/pins I would...

    X-post: A/C Compressor and A/C clutch alternatives for 24v 12HT

Yes. They were inlet and outlets from either an 80 series or the original FJ60. I dont recall unfortunately.

    X-post: A/C Compressor and A/C clutch alternatives for 24v 12HT

You should double check this. This is NOT a guarantee. But we used an Izuzu NPR 24volt AC compressor successfully on a 12HT a few years ago. It looks like this one. The bolt pattern was the same (or close enough) to fit on the 12HT. Belt alignment was adequate. You might have to shop around and...

Do all HJ61’s come with a cable locker?

A simple question which I can’t find the answer to: Did all HJ61’s come with a factory cable operated rear locker? Or was this an occasional option? Many thanks guys.

    HJ61 died while driving.

check the connection on the butterfly valve actuator. when my 12HT gets hot, or I have sudden power draw (turn on a lot of lights at once), it will lose power to the butterfly valve and it will turn off the engine.

    12ht highway heating issue

Your gauge is certainly above the average temperatures I experience with mine. You could look into an inexpensive, standalone temperature gauge that displays the actual degrees digitally. You could mount it temporarily in your cab somewhere, and compare the degrees you see to the standard...

    Builds 1987 FJ60 Expedition Build

Its an interstate deep-cycle marine battery. Unsure of the PN. I used it because it had the posts on the side instead of the top, thus I could secure the leads with nuts, and I didnt have any risk of contact with the underside of the body. Basically the battery fits within half an inch of the...

    Builds 1987 FJ60 Expedition Build

Thanks for the kind words Alex. I built a mount that seats the battery up under the rear quarter panel on the drivers side. It looks from the photo that your exhaust would be in the way. To find the spot, just get under the car and find the driverside frame rail at the back, then find the big...

It’s a full length Baja rack. I’ve been very happy with it. The front third is enclosed. It protects my solar panel nicely. Highly recommend
