I've been running on Rotella 0w40 full synthetic every winter with tremendous results - best winter start ups ever since the switch.
...and I'm with Crushers, easy on the throttle.
1983 BJ60 daily driver since 1996.
I've run Rotella 0W-40 full synthetic for a number of winters here in Ontario and I've had the best winter starts (4 years) since using it (16 years as owner of the R.O.M.) ...noticeable difference.
Available at Canadian Tire.
My BJ60 was a February 1983 unit with a 5 speed and power steering
...comparing that to a friend's 1985 BJ60, his had all the above, yet included a push button/vacuum actuated HI-LO transfer case as well as a clutch booster. His 'Cruiser also had factory AC (nice).
I have seen a 1981 BJ60...
I had a similar symptom, check your fuel sending relay, there might be a short somewhere due to excess moisture. My engine was turning off the EDIC motor and immediately back on as I was driving through an intersection (dangerous situation), which in turn produced a hefty jerking motion.

Take it easy there "wheelinwarren". This is not the place to spouting your personal disrespect for a vendor. Deal with the vendor directly and get the issue addressed. A lot of people have had positive dealings with 4wheel auto (probably a few who have not) and due to a communication error I'm...
Is this a relatively new issue, as in could this be a bad tank of fuel?

Is...
Update...
First things first, always (at least try to) bring a clean vehicle to your mechanic. Cleaned engine to easily spot the oil leak.
I just told the Rig of Mortis that it was a late night Show n' Shine to keep her happy.
The leak seems to be coming from a blown gasket for the lifter...
I'm going to recommend "Crushers" on this board, it would be worth your while to contact him and stop by through your travels (located in the Owen Sound area).

He has a history of quality.
I hear you regarding not power spraying your engine, as it is a Diesel there is less to worry about (my understanding).
I've been doing it that way for the past twelve years without a hiccup, but I can understand your caution.
This is something I would not do in my own driveway, I will usually...
Engine degreaser in an aerosol can, sold at Pep Boys or Canadian Tire... or whatever you have down there as an automotive parts store.
Spray it on, power wash it off, drive your truck for ten minutes until the engine is dry and then coat your engine with Liquid Wrench® (I'd use WD40, but it's...
