My 3b alternator smoked the resistor. I found this guy in Australia OEX Alternator 12V 50A (Denso Style) HXA003 | Sparesbox - https://www.sparesbox.com.au/part/oex-alternator-12v-50a-denso-style-hxa003
The website says it fits but does anyone know if it does?
Ahhh...the ol' 6BT in a 40 thread. I get asked this question on a weekly basis. Yes, it can be done and it has been done before. However, as others have mentioned, you will want a pre-92(93?) 12 valve non-intercooled version. The 93-early 98 would work but the intercooler won't fit. That...
You have to realize that this is BRAND NEW engine that will last 400K miles or so. The engine alone is almost $10K direct from Cummins. It also includes a new transmission and a 4" lift for it all to fit. Try pricing a brand new 1HDT and 5 speed, throw a 4" lift on it and see where you come...
It really does not matter to me, I am just looking for whatever may be the easiest, cleanest, and/or cheapest option.
What I have is: a 3B/H42/split t-case in my 1982 BJ60. I want to install this drivetrain in my 45 but I want to swap out the BJ60 H42 for an earlier FJ40 H42 so I can mate that...
I have a rusty 1982 BJ60 that I would like to pull the drivetrain out of and put into my 1965 FJ45 pickup. What I would like to do, is go with a FJ40 speed and a 3 speed transfer case. This way I can keep my existing OEM PTO winch and transfer case parking brake.
I understand that I need to...
Not all 44's came with a full floater. It's probably a 46 as it has the factory rear wheel moldings.
And......... to my knowledge, 43's never came with a hardtop. All the ones I have seen, have been soft tops.
It's truly up to you which one you want to convert to a 4BT.
I went with a 1991 because of several reasons. A few being:
I had a 1991 Cummins 4BT and under federal law, I can legally put this engine into a 1991 but not a 1992.
The 1991 was cheaper and had a 3FE that I could sell for...
I am happy with my 1HZ in its non-turbo'd form. I would just like a little more umph to get me over the mountain passes a little faster. I crawl mountain passes at about 40 mph but I'm still passing older VW's.
I've got a 1HZ/H55F in my 1965 45 troopy. It fits fine with FJ60 power steering. I'm SOA and running 35's no problem. I am still NA and I can run 75mph all day long at 6,000 feet.
Turbo it and she'll run like a raped ape.
I would like to turbo mine someday but it is some $$$.
Good luck.
So, basically to sum up:
Go with what you can afford and what you feel like you need/want.
-If you can afford a newer generation Toyota diesel, go for it
-If you are OK with a somewhat slower vehicle and are on a limited budget, go with a B or H diesel engine. Afterall, this is what...
