    1990 4Runner brake line routing / diagram

Thank you! That makes sense about the LSPV. I'm driving other vehicles, but it would give me the option to drive it to a place to replace the line. I got the stuff to do it myself, but I've never done it and am debating if I should spare the time. I'm not sure how long it would take. I found...

    1990 4Runner brake line routing / diagram

Hi everyone, I have a pickup FSM and a 80 series FSM, and neither seem to show how the brake lines are run. I want to make my 4Runner have brakes only on the front until I can get the burst rear line replaced. There's two lines off the master cylinder and looking at it, I thought the one...

    1989 Toyota 4×4 truck

What if you just open the throttle a little bit? Have you tried manually adjusting the idle? If so, how does it run like that? TPS adjustment is a good idea. Engine should usually be able to run in a closed loop mode even if there's problems.

2nd gen 4Runner with rear ABS, suddenly got a soft pedal after hard braking

Doing some searches, it seems like this area is a common one to have problems in. The consensus seems to be that you either have to pull the gas tank to replace the line, or lift the body off the frame. Or just run brake line around the gas tank and leave the old lines...

2nd gen 4Runner with rear ABS, suddenly got a soft pedal after hard braking

Wow, that's awful. I'm glad I blew mine out in the driveway. ---- Looking at it again, I'm still not quite sure where the leak is coming from. There's a hose (or maybe speedo cable?) going off the top of the differential. Do you know what that is? Little puzzling. Maybe speed sensor for the...

2nd gen 4Runner with rear ABS, suddenly got a soft pedal after hard braking

It's surprisingly difficult to film in there. I wonder if I should approach it from the other side. There were lots of active drips -- I don't feel like I saw the source though. If it is a rusty line, which would not be surprising given the rest of the rig, what options do I have? Is it...

2nd gen 4Runner with rear ABS, suddenly got a soft pedal after hard braking

Thank you! I did actually find a leak... somewhere at the rear. It's a pretty serious leak. I must've blown something out. I can't quite find the source, and the LSPV looks dry. I think maybe it had a small leak for a while before blowing out, but not positive. Do you have any ideas on where...

2nd gen 4Runner with rear ABS, suddenly got a soft pedal after hard braking

Alright, so I'm looking into this now and the system wants to take quite a bit of fluid. I still can't spot any leaks. My theory is that it was bled last without bleeding the ABS unit. When I did the hard braking on the snow, the system tried to activate, introducing air into the system. Some...

2nd gen 4Runner with rear ABS, suddenly got a soft pedal after hard braking

Hey everyone. I have a 2nd gen 4Runner with rear ABS. The ABS light will come on with the key in, but when it's started it goes back out. I was testing the 4Runner in the snow going down my driveway, trying to lock and see how fast I could stop. I couldn't feel any pulsing in the pedal, which...

    Newer gen suspension

The 3rd gen 4Runner's suspension (shared with 1st gen Tacoma/Tundra/Sequoia) is not a good one. Lower balljoint can fail catastrophically. I also think going to rack and pinion steering may also be less durable, though it can give better feedback (3rd gen 4Runner does, Tundra is vague). I could...

    1990 vs '91 + 4Runner rear window relay compatibility

From this Ebay listing, it sounds like they do not interchange: Toyota 4Runner POWER REAR DOOR WINDOW CONTROL 85930-89105 Relay MODULE 1991-1995 | eBay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/384165404390 "On 1991 models you MUST verify which box you have. 1991 models used two different ones which DO NOT...

    1990 vs '91 + 4Runner rear window relay compatibility

Is there any difference between 85930-89103 and 85930-89105? One is supposed to be for '90-'91, the other, '91-'95. Will the newer one work on a '90? The newer ones are a little cheaper. I don't know if one is actually not compatible with the other. I tried to clean the relay contacts, but no...

    1990 4Runner, rear window won't close

Same thing today! In the cool morning, would not go up. When it heated up, worked perfectly. Definitely one of those relays.

    1990 4Runner, rear window won't close

Okay, so without moving the vehicle or anything, it just started working. And perfectly at that, not even finicky. The only thing I can think is that it was cooler and a bit moist in the morning, and hot and dry now. Maybe something dried out? I opened it up and couldn't see anything off. There...

    1990 4Runner, rear window won't close

Thank you both for your replies! Pushing into it doesn't seem to help at all. That's helpful about the door switch. It looks like the door lock does indeed get rid of the "rear door" light. The central locking button also doesn't lock the rear door. I think it does lock when the window goes...

Am I making a mistake? Daily driver thoughts

I'm taller than you and for me the mini truck is fine. I've owned a couple 2wd 22RE 5-speed pickups and a 4x4 22RE 5-speed. I definitely prefer a 4Runner as a daily driver, however the pickup is totally fine (I've commuted in them). In 2wd, the 22RE manual is zippy enough and easily gets 25MPG...

    1990 4Runner, rear window won't close

The center console rear window switch works, along with the key switch. It'll always go down, but often takes a few tries before it'll go up. Once it starts going up, there's no hesitation or issues. I can hear the relay click when I tell it to go up via the key or switch. This morning, it...
