Don't know how big a deal that will be...but will test it next week on a 4 day trip. I got the 3" extension, there is also a 2" one available. From just sitting in the passenger seat I think it's ok, but bouncing around on rough trails will be the real test.
Do you ever find that the transfer case lever is too far away, or your right arm is too weak?
Well, maybe it's just that the transfer case lever is too short!
This is the 3" extension. Works great.

$20 mod, 2 minute...
Found a good deal ($40) on a used alt from an early 80 series (I think it was a '91). Swapped the pully, and it was a direct fit into my 60...went from 55amps to 80amps in 30 mins.
I have a radioshack temp sensor in my 60. Works great. I've checked the temp against lots of other temp guages, and it's really accurate. I have the sensor mounted on the front valence, below the grill, above the bumper, on the passenger side. If stopped, it picks up heat from the engine...
This is a great thread, would love to see it in the FAQ.
I recommend Speedbleeders as a cheap and useful ($12 per pair) mod. Makes bleeding brakes solo a cinch. You can easily change your brake fluid too (a good thing to do on all vehicles, esp our older trucks!).
