Well, that’s one of the best explanations I’ve read. I will look further into this. I know you need a healthy engine… now… perhaps I will put the sniper back on after I finish rebuilding my engine and see if I can learn it how to work.
Mine started doing it shortly after install. It worsened as time went on and I kept killing O2 sensors. It got so bad I couldn’t keep the truck running. I pulled the engine and found massive carbon build up. This thing ran very rich. I also had a large exhaust leak at the number 2-3 ports in my...
It’s not the same as direct injection where each cylinder gets its own squirt of fuel. It functions as a carburetor but is controlled by a computer rather than vacuum. The intake is designed for a carb which requires a pulse to keep things flowing. This may effect the sniper’s efficiency to some...
An exhaust leak, even a pinhole, upstream anywhere in the exhaust will throw the O2 sensor off and it will run rich to compensate for the extra oxygen in the stream. Though the engine doesn’t need it the sniper believes there’s a need to enrich the mix. This causes a swift decline in the 02...
I changed my throttle cable twice. First one melted. Second one was too short and was sticky and jumpy. This new 36” cable is better but I’m still not 100% satisfied with the articulation in the pedal response. Maybe I need to change the return springs? Maybe I need an extension arm on the...
I thought about that exact thing. Have a skid plate for the transmission that I need to install. I wanted to put the pump where it would be protected by the plate but it was too far forward. Everything works just fine but it’s certainly not the best solution for a 4x4 off road setup.
I figured there was a better pump out there. My real beef with it is that it’s very vulnerable to catching damage on the trail being down on the frame. At least it seems like a big possibility, especially if you do lots of rocky stuff.
I think holly says to put it 10 inches behind the collector. I believe that would put it down close to the firewall or just after it but I’m not sure what headers you have.
Sounds like the o2 sensor is getting too hot and throwing the computer off. I recall you mentioning this a while back. Weren’t you burning sensors up really fast?
I’m considering the sniper. I have a question but I can’t find a straight answer after reading through a lot of this thread. Can this set up pass emissions? It seems like it would improve emissions over the carb setup but I’m unclear on how all the smog equipment would work on the sniper...
