JP, I was just passing through Yreka Tuesday evening and I thought about you and the the 45. I had my wife pull up your ad on BAT and I almost had to pull over..... Wow.....like others have said, it sold for way less than its actual value. I know you had fun doing this rebuild so keep your head...
Breathtaking is a true understatement for the attention to detail on this endeavor JP. I really want to see this in person. Pictures are great but nothing like seeing it in person I'm sure..
I also used those late model rubber tailgate stops. Here's a photo of how I made them to match the early...
JP, those parts look fantastic, and yes the guys at TFC are great. I'm glad they worked out for you. If you have any reference questions just let me me know.
Mark
JP is correct, I think the dome is up just under the lip of the trans hump. I have the parts books for all units 40,43,45 etc but unfortunately they don't give a clear picture at all. I'm not near sage at the moment. You can't really see them with the hump on.
Not really sure of the purpose...
JP, "Sage" had those on her. Per parts book, They are called:
"Plate Transmission Set" 16 per vehicle.... Which is correct...
Part number: 58279-60010. Wonder if they are still available?
I could also see these being tossed.... Another part only found in one place on all cruisers. My books...
Not sure on the date for the license plate frame, but I did have a similar one that stated" Do it in the Dirt" and looked the same. It was from the early Seventies.
JP, Yours will be fantastic and Top Notch...I have no doubt!!!!!
I'm convinced that the areas of Northern California and Southern Oregon were true Mecca's for FJ45's. Fred Wheeler at Wheeler Motors "later Wheeler Toyota" of Grants Pass Oregon sold a lot of 45's back in the day.
