    Crushed? Yes. The master tech at my local dealer showed me a crushed stock filter from a 10k oci Tundra. They can severely distort and even tear. He thought the 10k change was simply too long for some operating conditions.

    Closer tolerances are a myth... there is no significant bearing clearance difference in any of the Toyota V8 engines dating all the way back to 1990 with introduction of the 4.0L 1UZ, it uses 5W30. The very expensive Yamaha tuned 2UR GSE 5.0L used in the Lexus IS-F specs a 5W30 or 10W30... same...

    One of the major reasons for the filter type is so it can be easily recycled.... they can be burned for energy recovery.... where as filter with metal requires quite a bit more work to recycle... the steel needs to separated, washed with solvents, etc. The OEM filter media shows good results in...
