You said you verified temp with a ir gun. What is the temp your reading when the motor is hottest on their gun? A fan clutch only cools at lower speeds. If it's getting hot at higher engine speeds like 50mph then you probably need more radiator. You said you had the old radiator repaired with a...

Daystar makes a bunch of different style bump stops that might work. https://www.polyperformance.com/daystar-evs-foam-1-3-8-x-2-1-2-diameter-bump-stop-ku09041bk

A temp gun on the head should give a accurate temp reading.

Have you tried out 4 low yet? Congratulations! Now drive the tar out of it. Oh and make sure you double check your gear oil level, check for oil leaks, and for any items that may be rubbing or hitting things they shouldn't. That Trans tunnel turned out great.

I use the stock shifter. But the twin stick shouldn't be a problem with the vintage air if you did twin stick.

I personally think the orion is worth it. The gearing makes it much easier to keep control offroad. Even if you only do mild trails here n their the orion will make it much more enjoyable. I've noticed no extra noise from it. If your just going to get ice cream in town with it, I would just...

Where did you get your oval grommet on the bottom of the pic? Also, you can touch up the bedliner with a small paint brush if it gets messed up cutting the floor. It actually works pretty well.

That really sucks. Might want to go with an orion if you can. Its not too much more over a fresh rebuilt case. The low gearing makes anything offroad you do a lot nicer and its easier on components.

Congratulations man that turned out great. Paint looks really good. How does it drive? Looks like it's ready to go anywhere! Its a good balance of resto mod and stock fj40. Make sure you add some anti theft devices of some sort if you haven't already.

The rear half doors is a cool idea. If it was me i probably would run out of steam at that point and just use a standard rear hatch. I lose ambition toward the end of big projects. But it will be unique and cool. I've only seen it done a few times on here. What are you doing for a fuel tank and...

Here is an idea for your interior. Its pics of the interior of a electric porsche here. Top of seats are beige, sides are black. Maybe do the opposite on your 40. Top of seats grey or black, sides beige. Then you wont get the beige so dirty.

Look at post 209 in my thread. I felt the same way as you at that point. But I did what Todd told me as you'll see with the ratchet straps and the cowl pulled closer. I never bolted the roof on, only the hard top sides themselves and the doors.
