When I was cruising in Goss at 65-70 mph I was at 850-1000F. Unless I was in hills It never went up. 75-85 mph I'd jump up to the 950-1150F range cruising.
If I lugged the least little bit I'd see 1300F or higher QUICK!

My Cummins Master said that all the local mine trucks run at 1200-1500F and higher at peak loads. Most are in their 8th year of service. Unless they are in for maintenance they run 24 hours a day.

Hopefully you can get the #s better suited to your liking. My local Cummins Master tweaked and tuned on Goss and got him where the EGTs were a non issue unless I was lugging in OD or Double OD. Other than that, 1100-1300F were standard #s no matter what the situation was.
I hope this fella...
Mike,
I've never seen your exhaust... But I dropped almost 150 degrees on EGTs by properly "flowing" the exhaust. The previous set up on Goss had too many sharp turn/bends and caused issues.
Just some extra food for thought.

Mike,
Best option is ruled out -- Stitch n Lock or similar process, IMO
Next (if cast iron) would be to thoroughly clean and lightly grind a shallow groove, Get area upwards of 300F or a little hotter and weld with a NI55 or similar nickel based electrode... Then to assist in a SLOW cool down...
Mike, All I can find is this.
"use Three Bond 1207-C to fill the joints between the pan rail, gearhousing and rear cover." Nothing else is applied to the oil pan gasket. The torque is 18 ft-lb for the oil pan capscrews. The capscrews are M8-1.25 x 20mm
Must be a Cummins sealer. I'd inquire at...
