I
I have yet to actually ever deal with a parts staff at a dealership, but one of the 2 mechanics I have worked with regarding this 60, is in complete agreement with you, Matt. He had nothing good to say about parts staff. But I ordered the new dome light assembly, and was confused by how...
Regarding all the red circled items; Is there a assembly kit or anything I should buy that includes these specific items? Or can I just search for these items by their item number on a site like toyota parts deal?
I dont know the exact cause, but its totally related to the 4wd shifter. I was driving around, and I was in 4H. I applied some pressure to the 4wd shifter, pulling it back, and the "bees" went entirely away. So, the "bees" is 100% related to the shifter. Maybe some kind of noise dampening...
Lol, sorry I forgot the exact name, but the receipt for the work done for the head had a note for "Needs both ends on rods at gear box" for the "arms" work I am talking about. Its like 2 little things at the front end, on the left and right sides of the front tires. My steering is really bad...
Well yall I figured out a CLUE to the "bees"! Its the 4wd shifter! When I apply pressure to it, the "bees" go away. When I let go, the "bees" return.
I know someone posted in this thread earlier about this issue potentially being related to "the shifter" however, I only checked the primary...
Alright. Got an update.
The vehicle is back in my possession. Drove well home (less than a mile from the shop to my place lol) The recommendation from the shop manager was; There is no reason to sell it. He says its fine. It was just a poor job on the first head build. As I said before...
No we didnt find the bees just yet. The head/gasket should be getting sorted today (remachined etc etc) and after that, I will have the guy take a look at the "bees" issue, as well as the steering.
Seriously lol. What a thread. I am very eager to hear back from him today (hopefully) Once the head is sorted, I am going to just ask him to check out all sorts of things lol.
But I think that I may tap out once this thing is up and running. I just received a job offer, which will require...
Good morning everyone :coffee: I finally have some updates for you all:
-Bolts on the head gasket were just not torqued down whatso ever. Completely loose (I am guessing previous owner did it himself and was just offloading the vehicle to who ever was dumb enough to buy it lmao)
-Head is...
I should just turn this into a build thread lol.
So, right now, the rig is at a LC specialist guy. I got them recommended from off of here. I believe the manager owns like 5 LC's. So thats positive. I should hear back by the end of the day. I will update yall then!
Where would I be able to find the spec ranges for this? I have my appointment this coming monday with a place. Apprently they work on FJs a lot and know Toyota well.
What am I looking at here?
Are yo also saying that I should be concerned that the head has already been "grinded down" to its maximum limit POTENTIALLY during the last head gasket rebuild?
This is the opinion that everyone, basically, has been telling me. But I appreceiate the help. I really hop the block is ok and its just a gasket blowing again. However, finding WHY it blew again is my concern.
But I am in MO
Its feeling like a can of worms lol.
It for sure is varified that its a blown head gasket. Ill try to parapharse what my mechanic said...
"it was pouring white smoke out of the back"
"the cap blew off the thing and shot up into the air" (I think he meant my radiator if I recall correctly?)...
Thank you for saying so. And I was giving that some thought...Ill be honest, ill go take a hit on the price, but if I just tell folks that this is a great deal for someone who can do the work themselves.
In my estimation, the truck is actually pretty decent in all areas (aside from the...
