The J-pipe and down pipe are where the real value in this kit are. These are custom pieces that cannot be purchased elsewhere and are definitely of better design and higher quality than the few alternatives out there (CX and Treadstone). Having previously built my own turbo kit from scratch...

Wow, this sucks. I was one of the earliest purchasers and I got my kit in the basic timeframe i was expecting (still a long time by most vendor's standpoint, but Joey was clear on setting expectations for delivery at that time). Had a handful of real conversations with Joey along the way and...

Haha, in my old volvo 940 wagon I put an open vacuum tee on the wastegate line, no adjustability at all, just maxing out the wastegate's capability. That brick scooted like the dickens until I broke the u-joint. :hillbilly:

That sounds about right for 8psi. Sounds like the kit is working as designed 👍

Yes, that is normal. The computer is programmed to monitor the AFR and make adjustments to keep it at 14.7:1 under light load because that is the most efficient AFR for the engine to operate. When you put the engine under load, it switches to closed loop and dumps fuel for safety. But 12:1 is...

I weighed the options and decided to go with air/air for mechanical simplicity and cheap factor. There are ways to avoid chopping up the bodywork much (or any), but it requires a lot more bends and complexity and may put some of you charge pipes in harm's way for serious wheeling. For me...

I ran this "boost controller" on my Volvo 940 wagon back in the day. Very effective until I broke my driveshaft! :hillbilly:

Yeah, welding exhaust pipe is hard to get right without putting any pin-holes in the pipes. If you're a novice welder, I would take it to the exhaust shop.

I wouldn't be too worried if there is some air gap between them. 1/4" is not bad. On my homemade setup I actually had to grind off some of the t4 flange to clear the -AN fitting for my drain line. But I also don't like the circuituitous route of your oil drain, the way it points towards the...

I turbo'd mine with about 315k miles and oil consumption around a quart per 1500 miles, both leaks and valve stems I suspect. No ill effects were experienced specifically related to the oil consumption. With the exception of two rather catastrophic "user error" incidents, oil consumption...

@Nay I still haven't gotten around to installing my wits' end turbo, but I did run a similar setup on my truck a few years ago (pretty much the same turbo, different plumbing with a small A/A intercooler). I could do eastbound Eisenhower tunnel in 3rd gear with a good running start through...

So weird that you're stuck at 5psi regardless of what spring you're running. Weirder still that the 11psi spring would yield better overall performance without changing psi. Maybe you've got a bum wastegate? I assume you've hunted high and low for vacuum leaks and exhaust leaks? When I did...

I have turbo'd and un-turbo'd my truck a couple times. Not to hard to put it back together. The main difference is that you'll want to keep you stock y-pipe and 1st cat in one piece rather than sawing it in half to weld to the downpipe. You'll just have to get an exhaust shop to fabricate the...

The coating on the parts will burn off, and the turbo blanket and downpipe blanked themselves may have a little smoke to let off. Check for oil leaks to be sure, but should be OK to drive and it'll be gone in a day.

If "all metal" means brass, it likely does not cool as well as any of the plastic/aluminum options, OEM or aftermarket. I got the cheap-as-they-come TYC 1918 and immediately saw lower temps compared to the brass radiator it replaced. Although brass would probably be fine for a northerner like...

Stock exhaust diameter (2.5") is best for this kit. I've had good luck with magnaflow cats, but don't bother getting their y-pipe and first cat, as you'll have to chop it in half to mate to the turbo downpipe. Instead, get a universal weld-in cat for the first cat and have the exhaust shop...

Nice work! I bet it's really peppy with a gt28! Do you have OBD2 down there in Columbia? Any sort of tuning? If your computer works like our american ones, you may be running too lean at lower RPMs. I'd love to see some more photos of your intercooler setup

I am a kit owner, it's sitting in a pile of boxes on my office floor  I will say from my previous turbo setup, which was running the same boost and a very similar turbo (same size and manufacturer), I got within spitting distance of 15mpg (14.87) on trips over the continental divide on...
