The FS add should be more descriptive in the problem areas, like you are in the above quote. "Front end needs serviced" says the add, sorta vague. "Seal front driver's axle hub" is a bit better.
In some states the airbag light will prevent passage of a safety inspection, so maybe a good idea...
A lot. For starters, that's the best color IMO.
This one in Haines, AK is more my speed. It's the same price I paid for mine a couple years ago from the same place. Mines not quite so rough though.

I like that it's "unmolested". Besides the stereo, that is. It's been swapped out. Seat cover on the driver's side. Looks like some oil leaks, eh? Not surprising. Not any history or maintenance info provided in the add. Dunno, $20K? I would not be interested at that price. But...
If it's in good driving condition and you're looking for a very serious offroad machine, sounds like a good deal. More mods means more potential for problems though, so depending on your projected use an example closer to stock condition might be a better idea.
What’s the story with the third one?
I don’t know which of those would sell for more, perhaps there wouldn’t be much difference. I’d prefer owning the 40th Sage.
Probably bought site unseen, without a test drive too. I looked at this listing a couple days ago and read through the comments. It has a couple rust spots, fairly minor but they exist. Also, this 80 has been in an accident. The owner was pretty good about answering questions honestly but I...
Very nice one that sold for $36K on BAT recently. 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser FZJ80 Collectors Edition - https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-toyota-land-cruiser-116/
Sure does look like a creampuff. I wouldn't dump a low mile 3FE though. They're very durable motors. Although high teens sounds like an awful lot I say- Go for it!
‘95, Locked, 150K miles, new tires, looks OK-$5K. It sold quickly, in a matter of a few hours. Log in or sign up to view - https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/335502015253866
Just curious, what are the most popular colors and how have you determined this? Same question for concluding 33" tires are far more desirable than stock size.
You may be right, but fwiw I disagree with most of this.
Two tone 62's are much better colors than blue, white or red, Beige on an 80 is also better than some others and stock wheels plus tires are the best choice for a BAT sale.
It's a beauty, for sure. For someone with a lot of money, I guess they'll pay just about whatever is needed to acquire their "mint" Cruiser. BAT is a great site for finding really nice, classic rigs FS.
One of those FJ80's with about 250K miles, rust free but a bit neglected looking, sold...
Also the inline 6 engine represents an important aspect of Land Cruiser heritage, maybe more so for those who have owned older LCs. I remember when the 100 first came out there were much displeasure expressed here in MUD about this too. "They've torn the heart out of LC by putting in a V8", etc.
