I haven't found a replacement but I haven't been looking. However, I have been following a "painting cars with rustoleum" Facebook group that seems to have good results. Painting cars with RustOleum - https://www.facebook.com/groups/395126041113308
So, I started this thread 12 years ago (feeling old.) ACE stopped selling the water-based tintable stuff a few years later so its long gone.
Looking to touch up the front half of my 40 this Fall with Freeborn Red. Going to dig through the interwebs to see what new oddball stuff is out...
I find it amazingly awesome that this thread has lasted so long. I just bought 2 cruisers from AU and will likely do this again with some tweaks. Cant wait!
Here is a link of the truck on eBay. Just sold for $17k....far more than I sold it for.....

Wonder if the new owner knows it's an ACE paint job? Probably...
Never trust the color on the screen. Age and brand of computer screen will differ the colors greatly. If they scanned the color then it should match unless they mixed it wrong. Also, color will differ a little bit between what you see in the can and what it looks like dried on the truck
Many Napa auto parts and also some Sherwin Williams centers will mix rattlers as well. Call around if one can isn't enough. They usually go a long way though. Good luck!
Hmmmmm........Hadn't really thought about doing the floors. I have a ton of paint left over and will need to repaint the inside anyway. We'll see how ambitious I get.
The spray looks great. Roller is a ton of wet-sanding. Spraying really gets those tough areas like seams and hinges much better.
Looks great. Snowed 10" here and I'm all set to wet-sand all afternoon but my kid is home sick....and another week goes by. Your paint job is very inspiring!
I'm taking a break right now from tearing apart the cruiser for paint prep. Never realized how many little bolts etc there are. It actually very relaxing. I'll snap some pics.
TheCrazyGreek's pics has certainly motivated me to do this faster!!!!! Looks great!
I was told the ACE stuff (as well as rustoleum) is basically a self-priming paint so a primer coat is not 100% necessary. As long as it's clean it should stick. I'm sanding down my 40 now to level out some old body-filler ripples so I'll probably prime some of it. All the sites and articles...
I ended up buying a can of spray paint from Tower Paint using the Pollux Orange vehicle paint code. I then sprayed some on paper and had the guy at ACE scan it in for matching. Worked well! I probably won't be painting until the end of the month.
