I just replaced the upper and lower ball joints on the 99 LX470 and then the alternator quit. i managed to get the alternator out through the top but i had to take the power steering pump off of it's mount. next will be the heater T's again. Thank ih8mud forum for all of the tutorials found...
my 99 lx470 isn't ideling correctly and i can hear a slight high pitched whine coming from the throttle body. i think is that motor in the throttle body that i call a stepper motor. any ideas???
what brand of upper and lower ball joints do you recommend? my wife just got a quote from the dealership for over 3700 dollars parts and labor to replace them both sides. any advice ? looks like the parts department wants to replace the control arms. Thanks
personally i would use the rust as a negotiating point. and if i bought it i would treat the frame with Waxoyl, fluid film woolwax or something similar . inside and out. if i purchased a new one without rust i would do the same.
i just checked my 2011 LX570 and it has a very faint hairline crack showing but no leaks. it is still under warranty so do you think Lexus will swap out under warranty?
I bought an aluminum radiator like that for a 100 series and it fit just fine. i didn't buy it from that source though. an afterthought, the vendor i purchased the aluminum radiator from was winner racing off of ebay or maybe it was from their website.
i ordered one without the tranny cooler by mistake so i just bypassed the one in the radiator. if i were you i would get the one with the cooler. took a few days to get it.
I purchased one from winner racing on ebay. the radiator was as advertised well built and packaged good. the only problem was my mistake and i ordered one without the transmission cooler. i say they are good to go but don't screw up like i did. oh and it fit without problems.
i owned both side by side. a 2000 LX470 and a 2003 GX. i prefer the LX but i will say the GX isn't a 4runner. you should drive both and get what fits you the best. both are exceptional cars.
i remember reading once that i need to be careful what kind of windshield and that there is a special installation procedure. is this correct? should i just let the dealer do it? any advice please.
Thanks
just bought a 2011 LX570. under the hood in the engine compartment is concealed with covers of some sort. do these serve a purpose? what do you do with yours? can i take these off and just store them somewhere?
