2F ignition coil voltage with ballast resistor

The original resistor, 1.5Ohm. And thanks for the pictures and verification. There is a lot of false info out there and it seems to get repeated. BTW, I am also an electronis engineer. I like your setup. I had a HP 5420 scope like that many years ago :)

2F ignition coil voltage with ballast resistor

I am however still interested in what the voltage actually is on an original setup. Surely someone has those details?

2F ignition coil voltage with ballast resistor

So you all agree that 9V on this coil is totally out of the question, given the resistance values? The company's instructions are not correct.

I really wanted to know the cI rrect coil voltage. Surely this is known?

2F ignition coil voltage with ballast resistor

Hello, The question: Is 5.6 - 6V on the the coil + to ground the correct voltage for this ignition ? Background: My points keep burning after less than 2500miles. A hole in one side and a pillar on the other side. Someone before me fitted an Accell 140001 Super coil. The original 1.5Ohm...

Converting my FJ40 to Dot 5 brakefluid. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

I have since repaired my brakes but went with DOT3 fluid. Mostly because I only did the front brakes at this time. I ran out of time and energy. However, I also repaired my motorbike brakes yesterday. This time I did go with DOT5. So far, it seems fine.

Converting my FJ40 to Dot 5 brakefluid. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

It is mentioned somewhere in the specifications that this DOT 5 fluid is slightly more compressible than normal DOT 3 or 4. However, I do agree that the problems people mention seem to stem from air and as you said, possibly lines. The military would not be able to use it if it resulted in a...

Converting my FJ40 to Dot 5 brakefluid. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

Note how they are also pitted on the back on the surface where they go under the seal. Rust there is dangerous as pressure could be lost suddenly. The hard chrome on them is just rubbish.

How is the pedal feel afterwards?

Converting my FJ40 to Dot 5 brakefluid. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

I did hear that but I also read many times over that it is because there is air in the the system. Apparently the fluid traps air which is very very hard to get out of it and cannot be eliminated by normal bleeding. I actually really wanted to hear from folks who are running this fluid and how...

No idea. Forgot. Came from a reputable supplier.

Converting my FJ40 to Dot 5 brakefluid. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

Understood. It is almost like the dust cover rubbers are porous as well. They still look like new. I am scratching my head that such junk can be sold even for brake parts. I just thought that while I am at it, I might as well consider changing the fluid over.

Converting my FJ40 to Dot 5 brakefluid. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

Here is what came out. they are rusting in my kitchen and look worse today. I can confirm these to be new in 2017. This is not a non issue but rather a serious issues since these brakes actually seized while driving and it pulled seriusly to one side suddenly, unexpected. I do not drive it...

Converting my FJ40 to Dot 5 brakefluid. Has anyone done it? Is it worth it?

After just 4 Years, my front brakes were totally seized up and the calliper pistons seriously rusted. they were new, along with all the seals. Close inspection now shows that the plating on those pistons is a mere illusion. And yes, the fluid was changed twice in 4 years. Total junk. Since I am...

I have a 2t floor jack and a Gantry with 1t chain hoist. I also have a set of ramps I am just getting a price on a 1t tranny jack. If I have to get that, I want one that can also do my big truck tranny. Just in case. BTW: I am sure that my floor cannot be removed around the tunnel like in the...

Clutch slipping. How best replace solo?

Hello all and thanks for the great tips. My dad recommended to me last night that the best way to do a car clutch alone is to pull the motor out instead of the tranny. He was not sure about a Landcruiser though. Has anyone done it that way? Regards Bernt

Clutch slipping. How best replace solo?

Hello After operation and an hour in traffic, suddenly the clutch started slipping. It was quite hot. Fine again after cooling a bit. Clutch freeplay on slave cylindar seems ok. Any recommendations on how to best replace the clutch on my own? Regards Bernt

FJ40 or 60 disc brake calliper refurbishment - questions

Hello Question: What is the clearance spec between a front disc-brake-calliper piston and bore? (It has a large and a small piston on each side of the calliper) I discovered seized pistons in the brake callipers. I eventually got then out. The calliper bores look ok (no scoring) The part...
