I bought the Toyota SST to rebuild my front axles. I am done so the SST is on eBay starting at $49.99. There are also a bunch of FJ40 manuals and books all under seller LESLIEMCP.

Alan,
The tires are 31 X 10.5. While I am replacing axle seals, I am looking for any cost effective improvements (under $1000) I can make to the suspension to improve the ride and/or offroad capabilites (no rock crawling).
I had the power steering installed right after I bought it.
I am attempting to replace my front axle seals with an SOR kit and I thought I might replace the front shocks at the same time.
From the picture, can someone tell me what was done to this front end suspension by the PO? What is stock and what is not?
The shocks measure 16" eye to eye and...
I should have mentioned that I have an Aqualu aluminum tub. Here is a better pic of the floor. Now that I see the mount I am missing, is there another one by the passenger door.
I am trying to mount Corbeau seats into my 77 FJ40. The drivers side went in OK. On the passenger side, I must be missing some type of mount so the seat bracket can reach the floorboard. The PO had used a piece of PVC pipe to fill the gap.
Also, the Corbeau bracket is hitting the flaired...
I removed my 1977 FJ40 mechanical fuel pump for a cleaning and noticed that there was a small hex screw on one side of the lower body and not the other. There is a threaded hole there so I am guessing one fell out. The fuel pump is a "Nikki".
What purpose do these screws serve and are they...
Thanks for the advice. I think I will go ahead with a new wiring harness, since it would be nearly impossible to untangle the mess I already have.
Mike
Rocky,
The points are closed. I was by myself and was trying to bump the starter to open the gap. I left the key switch on and heard the sizzling sound while looking into the distributor.
I am missing wires and parts off the ignitor. I looks like the PO bypassed the ignitor using a...
I had my 1977 2F engine rebuilt last year after it had been sitting for a couple of years. It drove home OK , but after a few days it wouldn't start. I had some known fuel system issues, which I believe are all solved at this point. The vehicle still won't start and I found that the wire...
