I just think constantly pulling air is a bit pointless - especially when it’s cold first up.
Thanks for the dimensions - did you use it on a 40?
I’m pretty sure the bj74’s had viscous hubs.
Any opinion if keeping the longer shroud would affect performance of the fan? That is - the fan is halfway...
Hopefully someone’s been down this path before and can shed some light.
I have a mechanical fan that is a direct bolt on to my 13b diesel motor. Fan shroud is approx 200mm deep.
In the future I’m looking to replace the water pump to suit a viscous fan hub. I think the viscous hub is approx...
Hi All,
I have completed a B diesel to 13B diesel conversion on a 3/80 Bj40.
I am now sorting the factory gauges so that they work properly.
My question is this - where on the 13b should i mount the pressure sender and pressure switch? I have 4 or 5 blanked off ports running front to back of the...
Hi
I have an aussie 3/80 BJ40, which when i bought it had drums on 4 corners. The maintenance of the drums had been neglected by the previous owner(s) for years, so it would have cost a small fortune to rebuild. The brakes barely worked and when they did grabbed and sent me into on coming...

It's in the vehicle and I don't need to run it at the moment - but it would be handy to run the motor to move it in and out of the garage. Also once the wiring is done I'll need to take it to get an exhaust. Will it be an issue to idle it around every now and then? Or even start it and have it...
Hi all
I have just finished an engine rebuild on a Toyota 13b diesel.
I have turned the engine over and fired it up for a couple of minutes to make sure I don't have any oil/water leaks.
I do not have the electric fan installed yet (but can install if required).
What is the best run in procedure...
Hi - thanks for the reply!
Oops - out by a factor of 10! 80 thou sounds like a good compromise.
At a guess - I think the block wall thickness at it's minimum is about 5-6mm. By boring out 160 thou, the remaining thickness will end up at 3-4mm. Do you think that's sufficient to prevent cracking...
G'day Unklwedy,
What's sleeve thickness do you recommend? I'm working off minimum 6 thou to 12 thou thick (1.5-3mm). I think the machinist is closer to 12 thou.
The casting does not appear to be even and seems thinner towards the base of the bore where the damage is. The machinist can't get in...
Hi all
I have been trying to get my 13b diesel rebuilt for the last 6 months with drama after drama.
Preparing for a trip to cape York (northern most tip of oz) in August this year - so pulled the 13b diesel out for a rebuild in sept/ oct last year.
A diesel mechanic is doing the rebuild after...
Cut switch just at base/start of thread.
The "assembly" is captured in the switch. Basically a holder with a ball at one end, spring in the middle and a "pin" on the other.
Looking into the switch, there is a rubber diaphragm (already cut out) over the top of a thin metal plate. I believe this...
Thanks mate - appreciate the compliment! Had an 80 series which was highly modified for many years and finally upgraded to the 105. Very happy so far.
A member from the 80 forum mentioned your work-around. From memory it was pin 15 wire to be cut - and earth connector side wire/insulate harness...
That elocker circuit board looks good! Postage to Australia would probably be a killer tho:-(
Can you unplug the difflock CPU and splice the pigtails to the wires there? How magic would it be if it was plug and play (except for the switches of course).
Might have to look into postage costs -...
Hi all
I have an Aussie spec 2005 hzj105 standard.
This means it is 1hz diesel powered, solid axle front and has the part time/manually select 2hi-4hi-n-4lo transfer with manual locking hubs.
Mine also has front and rear factory diff locks.
Seeing as it is similar to an 80 series operation I...

Poly is meant to last a lot longer than rubber (for car applications). I haven't had much experience long term with poly shackle bushes - but on my 80 series offset castor bushes the poly ones did not allow as much flex and seemed to wear out (from damage) quicker.
Try a law mower repair shop. It's a standard flanged bearing for ride on lawn mower wheels.
I've posted the part number in another one of my posts. Will try to look for it but if you search on mud I got it from another post as well - might have been posted by twisty and a few others.
