Hi all,

I have an Aussie spec 2005 hzj105 standard.
This means it is 1hz diesel powered, solid axle front and has the part time/manually select 2hi-4hi-n-4lo transfer with manual locking hubs.
Mine also has front and rear factory diff locks.
I've just been thru the forums figuring out why I couldn't select N or 4lo and have since discovered the two arm select method - so I can get into 4-lo.
I now also have operational front and rear lockers as I replaced the 4lo select switch - this was preventing the lockers from engaging.
My question is: I often need to engage the rear locker in 4-hi or even 2hi (don't lock in hubs) can I modify the switch which wasn't working to be "normally closed"? This would then send the signal to the lockers allowing them to be switched at any time wouldn't it?
I do not have ABS, and it is a manual so I don't have the overdrive lock out issue. Are there any other problems I may cause?
Secondly, can I wire in a switch to disconnect the rear locker somehow? I need to use front locker at times, without the rear - the factory switch does not give me that option....
Any advice appreciated!

While I do not have any experience with your particular vehicle, I know there have been several workarounds to use the lockers while in 2hi. I did it on a 3rd gen 4runner, which basically involved disconnecting and grounding a wire, very simple. It may be worth finding out if the 80 guys have done something like this.

Side note, I believe I can speak for many of the users here when I say I am deeply jealous of your truck. I wouldn't give up my truck for much, but I would for yours.

Thanks mate - appreciate the compliment! Had an 80 series which was highly modified for many years and finally upgraded to the 105. Very happy so far.
A member from the 80 forum mentioned your work-around. From memory it was pin 15 wire to be cut - and earth connector side wire/insulate harness side wire.
I was hoping to mod the switch so I didn't have to chop the harness.
