    Compared to Wyoming, south central Alaska is actually pretty mild winters. I don't expect to see sub zero temps very often. And this will be temporary till I get my hands on a rebuild kit and get it torn down and see if there are any chipped teeth or just smoked bearings.

    Update, Pulled both front and rear driveshafts from the LX and ran it on the rack. Without the resistance of the chassis, everything appears quiet...... till you put the stethoscope on the transfer case. It becomes very apparent there is an unhappy bearing in the Tcase. yay. I drained the fluid...

    We pulled the front shaft and ran the truck on the lift in Rear wheel drive. The noise is still there....but the suspension is at full droop. I am going to pull both shafts and run it with the transfercase locked and see what happens. Noise/vibration is still present regardless of suspension...

We verified the drive shaft angles and condition aren't affecting by putting the vehicle weight back on the axles and running the truck on jack...
