Tips for Installing new CV Axle Seal (I keep bombing)

Do you have a dial indicator on a magnetic base? You can see how out of round the bearing surface is while rotating the wheel/axle. Also see if there is any play when you grab the axle and move it up/down and fwd/rear.

Need help with AC Compressor Part, 2 weeks and 3rd part driving me crazy.

AFAIK all compressors only have two ports (low and high pressure). The rear A/C tee's off somewhere near the firewall. Here is a picture of the ports of a brand new (old stock) 471-1005 Denso compressor intended for a vehicle equipped with rear A/C. The clutch on these compressors is...

    Multiple Misfires, No Compression

In the picture above, the cam's are timed correctly to each other. However, I can not make out the little divot on the crank. Since L&R cams are timed correctly wrt to each other, one would expect similar compression readings L&R. One other thing to note is that for the VVTi engines, the...

    Multiple Misfires, No Compression

Regarding your timing pictures. Once you turn the engine over, you can no longer use the marks on the belt to determine if the timing is correct. There are marks on the crank and cam pulleys to check the timing. Typically they have a small amount of paint marker from the factory. Your pictures...

Tips for Installing new CV Axle Seal (I keep bombing)

That bore looks pretty good. Is there any raised edge (step) at the bore to corroded outside? The axle looks pretty good. According to SKF, that seal spec is for a 1.850" (47mm) axle. Are you able to accurately measure the OD of the shaft where the seal sits?

Tips for Installing new CV Axle Seal (I keep bombing)

Don't use a power sander or grinder. I used some fine grit emery cloth (#320) to smooth out the inner bore. Just at the are of any rough spots. Otherwise roughness of the corroded area was scraping the rubbery coating on the outside of the seal. That is correct (checked for my '08, but...

Tips for Installing new CV Axle Seal (I keep bombing)

A couple of things come to mind: Did you fill the rear of the seal with grease to keep the spring in place during installation? It is not in your list of steps above. This will prevent the spring from popping out as you tap the seal into place. Check the diff housing for corrosion: difficult...

prado 120 fuse 45 short circuit, pleas help

"when I disconnect the connectors from the ABS everything is ok": I'm assuming you mean the fuse will not blow, but you have no boosted brakes? The ABS MTR circuit powers the booster motor. The purpose of the booster motor is to pump high pressure brake fluid into the accumulator. If there is a...

    Window switches - Gremlins

If your driver window switch is able to operate the driver window, that means power/grounds are OK to the switch and the door opener. To open the other windows from the driver seat, a multiplexed signal goes from the driver door switch to the body ECU over to the switch of the other door and...

GX470 Coolant loss with no visible leaks

Rear water bypass pipe gasket leak? Pretty common on the 2UZ. Very often passenger side. From underneath the vehicle it looks like a head gasket failure as the coolant runs along the block. Look up from behind the wheels to the back of the engine.

    Rear Suspension Losing Air

Telltale sign would be the compressor coming on in that first mile of driving. If it is trying to make up for lost air, it would be a leak (or combination of many tiny leaks). If it is not coming on, it would be the result of the AHC ecu intentionally bleeding the air.

    Rear Suspension Losing Air

When parked, the active height control is inactive. However, the system is still pressurized and if your vehicle stays up when parked for days, there is no air leak. Once you start driving, the height control ECU monitors the sensors and bleeds air if considers the ride height too low and runs...

    Techstream not seeing modules

ECM and cruise control is actually the same ECU. There is no stand-alone cruise control ECU. It is handled by the ECM. CAN modules: ECM (incl. transmission and cruise), yaw rate sensor, steering angle sensor, ABS unit with actuator K-line modules: immobilizer, body ecu, TPMS, suspension, VSC...

    Techstream not seeing modules

By first two modules, you probably refer to the ECM and ABS modules? Those modules communicate with the via CAN protocol in the '08 GX. Most other modules (TPMS, air suspension etc), communicate via the KLINE protocol. These to protocols use physical different pins on the diagnostics port. If...

Oil wicking into ECM - random A/F sensor codes P0171/P0174/P2195/P2197

Everything looking fine so far. I have not yet connected a scan tool to see if there is any fuel trim creep, but I don't smell the rich exhaust anymore. It has been running great. Probably put around 1000 miles on the vehicle since (don't drive it a lot). Once diagnosed, it was actually a...

    2006 GX470 transmission issues

I was thinking testing the connection all the way from the ECU through the solenoid. That way you test everything. Not just the solenoid itself. However, I initially read your problem as P2716 (which is a resistance code). Yours is P2714, which is a performance code. Would still be prudent to...

    2006 GX470 transmission issues

Maybe you can verify the resistance of the solenoid from the ECU connector? There could be a problem with the wiring harness. Especially the transmission connector is known to have corrosion and pin melting issues. By measuring from the ECU connector end, the integrity of the complete circuit...

    Power Steering Pump Part Compatibility

Have you tried cleaning out the oil reservoir (especially the gunk in the screen) and replacing the fluid? A cleaned out system and Fresh M1 synthetic ATF will quiet down most pumps.

    2007 GX 470 Issues

These two could be related. A worn wheel bearing might result in a lot of play and if there is enough play, you could loose the wheel speed signal. You can inspect the wheel bearing by jacking up the vehicle and feeling for play in the wheel and also by spinning the wheel (while ignoring noise...

    P0420 P0430- troubleshooting.

If fuel trim numbers and A/F sensor active test shows that everything is working fine, my next step would be an 'oxygen storage test' to check the condition of your catalytic converters. That is probably the best (only?) method to determine the health of your catalytic converters and be 100%...
