I currently run a wilwood gas pedal which sits about 3 inchs from the floor and the brake pedal is about level if not alittle below that pedal when fully pressed and hte motor not running.
I finally got around to bleeding the brakes on my FJ and I noticed the pedal travel is a bit to much for my liking when hte FJ is not running.
Heres my current setup.

I wouldnt use the painless kit. I would go with affordable EFIs wiring harness and he can burn a chip for you as well. Depending on what year your cruiser is and how much you care about smog, you can remove every thing off the motor and have the chip in the computer programmed to give you a...
Johnny which one did you go with?
Bandy, I hear ya about working at an autoparts store and the cast bell. most 420s came with a cast bell and the 465s were aluminum. i am willing to bet it is a 168 tooth and the starter I picked out will work with both.
It wont really cause wear as far as how the tires wear on the road. It will how ever cause the inner side wall to bubble or the cords to separate over time and depending on how much heat its putting out.
I would try and route it out just in front of the tire or just behind the tire.
Theo,
Wouldnt a mini starter work in that situation? The mini starters do not have a nose cone.
Also never heard of a cast vers aluminum, but after you have been doing upgrades for a while nothing really suprises me anymore..
Just an FYI,
I was thinking about this the other day after I posted this thread. From what I can tell the main problem with the Starter mounted on the Bellhousing is: The starter sits to far from the flywheel, its over an inch and some change (eyeballing) so if you use a smaller flywheel...

If wheeling right now is hard for you or challenging then adding a front locker will make it that much more challenging and you wont be as hard on your rig. IF its that much of a concern just do an arb and use it when it gets to the point your banging on your rig to get over an obstacle and...
