I've been pretty pleased. the shackles help I'm sure. I haven't and won't cut the fenders, and I still had a little room there. so far, so good. good luck making up your mind!
HFS 4" plus 1 1/2" shackles
I recently installed the HFS 4" and have been very impressed. heres a few pics right after installation. I included the 1 1/2" barbell shackles also. I'm running the equivalent of a 33/12.50 under it.
great post
I too recently added 33's and have been wondering the same thing, thanks for asking, and thanks for the replies. ...so snoozer, those numbers are for 4.11's? I believe thats what I'd have in a '76... correct? thanks again guys!
I believe you had the twinner rig of mine... if this helps with the blue, heres a pic with 4" hfs lift, and 1 1/2" shackles on 33 12.5s. my last cruiser had about 2.5" of lift on 33's and it rubbed the uncut fenders when doing light duty offroading. I'm very pleased with my setup.
thanks! last summer I installed high altitude jets on my carb, and replaced the muffler with a flow master... haven't changed anything else up. after running it for a bit though, that would make sense if the fuel was boiling. what else can I do to stop that? or do I really need to worry...
Also, technical side, I've been driving quite a bit today, I had been driving it for a bit, turned it off, fired it back up shortly after and it took a little longer to crank (it usually fires right up) then drove for a bit, turned it off again, then went to fire it up again shortly after that...
No worries.... It's the original blue that came on the 40's I believe from '75- to either '79 or '80. I don't know a technical name for the blue, but the paint code is 854. That's what I pulled up anyway to paint those rings to match. I absolutely love the blue, and it turns a lot of heads...
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll try the socket trick on the one I got now.... And look into doing it right and going oem. Hope I haven't stripped out my regulator!
I purchased the Front door seal kit from ccot and installed the window channels. I was very displeased with the product, and it looks awful and binds up my windows and I think it's stripping my window regulators. Anybody have luck with a different brand?

Amazing thread! I just stumbled across it, and read almost the whole thing last night! I'm thoroughly entertained! One thought, everyone keeps talking book, (don't get me wrong, I'd definitely buy it) but. I can't imagine a book touching this thread! The ability to interact...
IMHO.... That's the best $500 you've ever spent! Although someone here will know about the best route to take mechanically with the motor, I can't help ya there. Looks like after market shocks and a shackle lift. I'd guess 2.5 shackles? I've owned 2 40's, and if it comes to a rebuild...
dream done!
so I've had an idea of what I wanted to do with this before I even found this cruiser.... and I've finally finished with the wheels and tires and lift what I've been dreaming! I'm pretty excited.... but its a little different. I expect some to hate the look, some to love it...
