Ahh...yet more proof of Mir's theory of relativity :
"A screw dropped in the shop always bounces the other direction".
But wait! you might protest - what is the direction? to claim the other?
That's why it's a universal principle of relativity...Which direction did you think of and look there?
The front and rears are both one piece, bonded into a slightly cone shaped flanged steel shell, with a tube steel core, that the bolt goes through.
Front and rear are different length.
And the left and right rear CAN use the same part, although OEM was handed.
All the middle ones are two piece...
Another worthy option instead of lockers - Eaton Detroit Truetrac helical gear (torsen type) limited slip differential ring gear carrier - could be considered superior to lockers - always ready to self activate with situation dependant left/right torque split when needed, with no operational...
Although Currie says that about their Jeep product. I cannot see any characteristic inherent to the 3-piece splined type swaybar that has less roll stiffness than the one-piece bent type.
Total roll stiffness in both types has to come from the sum total of the same factors (NOT easy to...
Nicely done! This seems quite practical... I do think your solution has added to the MUD-tech.
To refine even further - to the nth degree? - maybe add an offset to the extension bar, so the length of the digital torque sensor and it's tendency to cause axial rotation is removed, putting your...
Sheesh! Now my brain hurts, trying to imagine what you are describing - and besides - I've slept since then (once or twice). I'll try and come back to this.
Yes - CAT converter radiant heat shield - protects the rocker panel underside from heat.
My '97 LX450 has/had that, only on the CAT side, but the LX450 has plastic cladding under the rocker panel, which could soften and warp from radiant heat.
It conflicted with my SLEE step slider installation...
@ElJayBird - I notice that the louvers exhaust their heated air right upstream to the cabin fresh air vent intakes.
Have you noticed any effect on your dashboard outside air vent temperature? Warmer?
To put this discussion in a reasoned perspective : (while not claiming expertise here, just saying)
And I fully understand that many will jump up to object here, having been brainwashed to believe their entire lives...:hillbilly:
From a very deep fastener technical paper I read long ago...(...
Hello @Obrokoff , regarding the LTO batteries - very cool - allow me to throw some ideas out - just food for thought.
One of the frustrations(for me) of all traditional high capacity batteries is the universally followed rectangular "brick" shape packaging.
That fact forces one to mount the...
Allow me to gently suggest...
Your apprehensions about plastic radiator tanks, having shared that feeling, and, as a result, having suffered through two years of un-nessesary frustration, limping by with an (almost) non-functional cooling system - here in the hellishly hot desert southwest US...
Oh - OK - so using the term "reverse cut" for the landcruiser front high pinion diff is only relative / compared to the "normal" of the low pinion rear diff, but that is completely normal for the front, and nothing special or reversed from normal at all.
Because when you look at the front and...
