I got a rear fender, floor pans, rear door skins, rear sill, windshield frame, ummm....lets just say a lot parts. They fit pretty well, but did require minor trimming and modifications in some places. My guy doing the bodywork didn't have any serious complaint. Go for it, especially if buying...
I'm in the market for a new fuel tank as well. I'm gonna give cruiserparts.net a call on Monday. They have new OEM style tanks for under $300 on their website. I have had good experiences with their products in the past.
Try to keep the fumes within the engine or scrub them. A vented gas cap is adding one more global warming feature to our already aged vehicles. Try to get the charcoal canister working. Routing the vent back to the air intake sounds viable as well. There also may be an after market scrubbing...
I put one in my 1980 and had to do a lot of modification to fit around rear heater and shifter. Also the seats rub tightly on both sides when they are reclined. This will probably cause them to tear at some point. My opinion is that they are not quite a quick bolt in, made to fit application...
Plan on installing new pins. Have a grinder on hand, b/c you may have to grind them off if they are stubborn as mine were. 25 years of dirt and mud, and the bushing have pretty much been welded on...... You also may want to invest in a breaker bar.
I don't think it is fan clutch if the overheating is at highway temps. Sounds to me like you just need a new radiator, because it is getting maximum air flow at those speeds. Sometimes they can't be cleaned out and just need to be replaced. I had the exact same issue with a freshly reworked...
Yea, I tried to get with JimC by phone and email, but I got no response. I don't have the equipment to fab up a pulley such as that. I guess I will gut it.....I was just trying to save it in case for some reason I needed to "resmog" in the future.
I have an early 1980 FJ40. I am doing a desmog while I am installing a header because all the sh%* is in my way, breaking, or just a general pain in the ass. Anyway........I am trying to figure out what to do with my smog pump. SOR offers the pulley replacement which is noted to fit 8/80 and...
The best and cheapest system i have found to remove the top involves 2-3 buddies and a 12 pack. Sometimes it is also necessary to fire up the grill and throw some burgers on as payment for services, but this part is optional.
I have the same issues in mine. I believe the cat and transmission are my main sources of the heat. It gets almost unbearable on a 4+ hour drive when it is over 80 degrees. I am about to make it worse by installing a header as well. I just bought some double foil faced insulation from Summit...
I thought the same thing about it being mislabeled. The nozzles I have are pretty rusted so I am probably gonna track some of those down too. It looks like new ones cost a pretty penny too. Thanks for the input.
I am trying to replace an early 1980 40 series air rail. I just put a bid in on one on ebay which says it is off a '71. From the picture, it looks the exact same as mine. However, SOR parts list show the air rail as being different for that year. I am hoping I haven't commited to something...
This is the best picture I have of the rack. I tried to crop the pic and expand the crop, but I am still working on that....I will learn in good time, but gotta get back to work right now. Thanks for the Irfanview link, that is a nice little program.
PS Since this pic I have had the body...
