Not really.....40 pins work great. Don't overthink it.
I just did mine a couple of months ago. I bought my 40 pins off of ebay for $10 or so for each kit; required two kits.
Ige did this several years ago and here is her original write-up...
Wipes are up next!
Just to be clear, the magneto SHOULD NOT have any lube and that was what my problem was. I had previously cleaned all the old petrified grease out of the gears with electronics cleaner and then sprayed everything down with white lithium including the magneto.
When I took...
Nevermind...I figured it out!
For the record, it was the magneto that had some residual old grease in it from when I cleaned out the gears with electronics cleaner the first time. I sprayed it down VERY thoroughly this time and some junk came out.
All good now!
Hey all,
I am working on my 1976 FJ55 and I recently took my speedo cluster apart to get the odometer working again. I succeeded there.
However, my speedo now reads extremely high. In 2nd gear doing about 15 mph, the speedo needle is at 50 mph. 30 mph is well above 80 mph.

That brings back some memories. I imported that piece out of Australia and I had it in Colorado for a while for my own pig. I wanted to get rid of the tailgate so badly but ultimately made the decision that it was just going to be a LOT of work. I sold it to Delancy (rip) and hand-delivered it...

I'm the second owner and it has been in western Colorado near Aspen its entire life except for a brief time...

I did the same with mine and all is well. I tried using a grinder but found better results using a hacksaw and a file while clamped in my vice. It took all of about 3 mins.
1986 Vanagon Syncro Westfalia Subaru 2.5L Price: 25000
1986 VW Vanagon Syncro Westfalia Weekender. It has a Subaru 2.5L engine from a 2010 Outback. 100k miles on engine and 10k miles since install; the 2.5L had 90k miles on it when installed in 2019.
Unfortunately, I have to sell it due to...
RFSD still uses the land there by the river across from Cerise and there are more lands now including a 10-acre parcel up Lead King. For my classes, we have backpacking permits up the Fryingpan, we backcountry ski to 10th Mtn huts, and we also hike slot canyons in the San Rafael Swell. I...
