    Steering pop / clunk

The 80 sat a few days while we did family activities, but I went trouble shooting this afternoon. I popped my hood and my Aunt’s neighbor asked, “Watcha got goin on?” He’s a diesel mechanic for International. I told him it was easier to show him than describe it. So he looks under the vehicle...

    Steering pop / clunk

All great advice and I will be checking bushings, bolts, etc this morning. Part of me thinks the noise is coming from the lateral control rod, but wonder why it would only make that noise while on the ground. Must have something to do with pressure on the system. The day’s adventure consisted...

    Steering pop / clunk

All bearings were replaced in November when I did a front knuckle rebuild. Both wheel and trunion. I don’t think they are bad, but anything is possible. Thank you.

    Steering pop / clunk

Thinking of also lifting each side up and tightening them down. Maybe each tire being up would relieve pressure and allow me to tighten them further.

BigAxe- Checked those yesterday when I arrived at destination and two were loose. After that all 8 were checked and re-tightened. Thank you for clarification:

    Steering pop / clunk

I am still learning all of the nomenclature for my 80, so thank you for the patience and the explaining. Those bushings should be good to go, we’re replaced a few years back with the caster correction bushings. Will give them a once over tomorrow morning though. Also will be checking all castle...

    Steering pop / clunk

Steering arm nuts meaning Tie rod end castle nuts? It is a single clunk. New Longfield Birds were put in in November, and I remember those dreaded repeating clicks. Bushings on radius arms meaning bushings on the tie rod ends? Thanks again for all input.

    Steering pop / clunk

Good evening. I am currently on a road trip from Texas to the Southeast and am currently in Charlotte NC. We went off-roading at Durhamtown a few days ago and I noticed a pop / clunk in my steering after the day’s adventure. When the tires are neutral, if I turn the wheel left about 10 degrees...

TJM Adjustable / Fox knob placement

Rick - I ended facing the front driver's side towards the axle, the passenger towards the rear. Faced both rears towards the rock guard / shield. With them facing in, they just seemed vulnerable. I set all of them at 5 for the time being. To add.....I drove them downtown to a hockey game, and...

TJM Adjustable / Fox knob placement

Putting on new TJM Tiger Adjustable Shocks and wanted to make sure that the obvious is correct. On the front shocks I am placing the adjustment knob facing inward, towards the axle. This seems to be the easiest way to access them for adjustments. Did anyone do anything else and why? I sent TJM...
