My handbrake inside doesn't grab the gears when I pull it though. Seems like a spring is missing in the assembly. I have to push the lever to catch the teeth and it is fine and parking brake holds... and the button then releases as normal. But still need to figure that out.
This looks like the...
New parking brake cable came today. And it actually works :P installed it and had no issue getting it to the levers to put the pin in. Guess the old one really was binding inside.
Not sure if I want to build a bracket off the axle one to give a little better relief and not have the cable...
Also I got a cheap laser tachometer to help calibrate my soon to be installed Dakota Digital DSL-1E. I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001N4QY66/ Did a check on my engine lathe. Put a small square on my crank pully and My idle is at ~908rpm. It would lunge a bit and die recently...
So got in the rear brakes and tried to get the emergency cable to work. Would pull with the lever inside but wouldn't release back without tugging on the cable behind the rear axle. Really need to get the brake pedal firm and not need pumping and get the ebrake functional.
Seemed to not extend...
GLTHFJ60: Man me too. I feel like I neglected it for so long. Totally sucks to see things you put on brand new all rusted already :( But home stretch now.
Dave, not sure. I'm not all that sure how much flow these 4BTs need. I called R2C and they said I should go to a larger one that will flow 1200-1300 CFM. They wouldn't say how much the rzr one did just said "that won't flow enough for that." Filter recommended is 6.25" in diameter and 10.93"...
Picked up some 4runner wipers for a spendy $6 when I took the controller back to the junkyard to return.. I know some people go for 2x driver arms. These cover pretty good. Even got the caps with.
Also, got the controller mounted and slightly cleaned up the wiring. Needed a skinny air filter and just replaced my rzr's air filter with a better one and sure enough the filter (old one) fits perfect. Has a 3" inlet and fits the space well.
The volvo fan controller I got from the junkyard was crap. Low didn't work. But, like anytime you get something to replace what you can't find.. you find it :P So Took that one back and ended up finding my original one. Wired it in with a 30a fuse and circuit breaker. Also used the inline 30a to...
So back finally back on this horse. Man time flies!! She needs to get ready for the road. Electric fan it is. I ordered a volvo 2 speed fan controller and Taurus fan (from a 95'). And somehow hid the darn volvo controller from myself. I'm good at that! So hit the salvage yard and yanked one for...
Looks like I need to update my alert settings. I missed the whole party earlier :P Thanks for all the feedback! I kinda lean towards electric. Granted they don't look like they would last nearly as long but I guess they do. Like those with electric fans mention, they don't get ran hard so should...
Considering fan setup. I will be running AC. Thoughts on mechanical versus electric fans? For mechanical, seems swapping to the 6bt hub and fan is an option.
No doubt Trent! Sad since all the hard stuff is done. I just needed to get back in it.
@freepowder Thanks man! That is nice. I am torn on that one, a TAG one, ARB, and of course rolling my own.
So I got sidetracked with a million other projects.. Also got an 80 with lockers and fixed it up a bit. Time to get back on this puppy! Need a good front bumper and work on the electronics and snag some cool LEDs.
Right on Dave! I need to keep the momentum while I have it. lol
@GLTHFJ60: Not yet, nothing more than around the neighborhood and all. Need to get the back side glass back in and get it inspected.. then I can do a good shakedown.
So finally got back at it, took it to move the exhaust over since it right under the rear shock mounting point. Made up my axle mounts and burned them on and mounted up the shocks. Hopefully this fall I'll get some good progress on this puppy.
Took an axle perch, cut it in half and then...
