bought a new 8274 for the front of my 40

I just did a extensive rebuild on my 8274 last year. I replaced the bottom seals, rebuild brake assembly, replaced the top housing and free spool mechanism. Cost me about 500. I would recommend contacting WARN. There tech support is the best. Have them ID all of the replacement parts you...

What makes the Warn 8274 the best?

8274 has superior spur gearing instead of panetary gearing. Compact but tall and very fast. Look cool.

Need help. Going to look at a 8274

bypass the solenoids and hood jumper cables to the motor leads of the solenoid pack to see if the motor turns well. Pull the top half of the case off to take a look at the gear box.

Need help. Going to look at a 8274

My rebuild including new disconnect handle, brake rebuild, lower rebuild and new upper housing to replace a bad gear cost me around $500. That doesn't include solenoids or motor. But get it all done and you have a more than 1/2 price of a new 82-74-50

    Warn 8274 free spool problems

For the free spool problem - I'd remove the d/c handle and see want the gear looks like and see if the fork it hooks to is bent or not. Remove the drum and clean it out and lube the seals and see what it does then. This is normally the problems with free spool issues. Also a issue is gear...

1991 Suzuki Sidekick - Starting Problem - Please Advise

Id vote for the ignition switch before a relay fix. If your on the cheap then wire in a put start button and bypass the ignition switch. Try spraying a bunch of wd40 into the ignition switch and work the switch and ckey tumblers around and see what happens.

    Help identifying these two Warns

I have a top case for a 8274. I replaced mine due to the gear in it loosing its bushinging and eating up the rod. Warn doesn't just sell the case, you have to get all of it with the gear and rod because its "pressed" in. Its really just dimpled and can be pressed back in. New is almost $300...

8274 solenoid cover pic/ noob question

Loosen up the switch in the handle and turn it 180 degrees or you can switch the two wires going to the small studs on the solenoids.

    Toy Celica PS Help

Some progress today. I tore the pump apart and reversed the "slippers" that contact the cam on the shaft. They generate the pressure. This goes against two exploded views but it generates pressure now. I have a squirting of fluid out of the shaft seal when RPms are up and the steering on the...

    Toy Celica PS Help

The pump was working good. I believe I have the hoses hooked up right. I have the high pressure hose hooked to the port closest to the fender (correct me if I'm wrong please). It is off of a pre 81 Celica.

    Toy Celica PS Help

I put Celica PS on my samurai and am not getting any preformance from it. The pump doesn't make any noise like it is cavitating, I turn the wheels back and forth with the front off the ground and the fluid levels change in the reservior with no bubbles. I have tried bleeding it from the...

8274 Warn, any to avoid? things to look for?

I replaced the top housing because of a bushing failure, lower housing kit, brake kit, new clutch (bent) new needle bearing = $450 from 4wheel parts. There alot cheaper than Warn's site. You can't buy any of the upper housing components that are inside of it (spur gears)
