Yeah it was a great trip, still haven't got round to rebuilding the gearbox yet, but gonna have to get stuck into it soon as there are some nasty noises when under real load off-road.
Got to the chance to do some 4WD and touring un in Australia's Norther Territory with my 60 Series. Bloody awesome trip and they have released it now as a digital download at https://www.roothy.com.au/product/roothy-dvd-digital-download-darwin-unplugged/.
The 60 performed really well and held...
Hey guys, this is a how to on rear wheel bearings and drum brakes on my 1988 hj61rg cruiser. Used Bendix brake pads and wheel bearing kits from Terrain Tamer 4Wd. Job took my mate Rich about 4 hous because we cleaned up, rust proofed and painted the hubs etc.
had a full wheel bearing and rarer drum brake rebuild done by one of my mates and we shot this how to video, might be useful if anyone is getting stuck into this. My mate Richard used to work with MH motorsports in the rally championship in Uk and he knows some handy tricks.

Looks like Roothy's new 40 series truck Milo 2 is ready to rumble. get past the promo piece for the 4WD show and check out some of the other 40s at the Old Crusiers Kick Arse (OCKA) rally in the Victorian High Country in Australia.
My mate Paul Read, better known as MrLandcruiser here in Australia has an awesome HJ47 Ute, but he's been having real trouble lately with the 'original' wiring. This guy at SMART has some neat tricks and ideas when it comes to bullet proofing the looms.
Yeah JC, this looks like an awesome build and they are chucking up some great vids, I caught this one today, check out the World War 2 bomb arming switch that they are putting into the dash panel, beat the hell out of a heap of plastic rocker switches anyday!
Check this out, this fully rebuilt 12HT motor with virtually new pump and hi-flow turbo sounds amazing! I will have to start saving the pennies to get my pump rebuilt if it will make my engine sound anything like this, not sure I would get away with the exhaust though :)
Happened on my transfer case a while back and my mate at Smart Automotive Solutions managed to fit a helicoil and new plug. I still put a dab of silicon on the thread when I refit it though.
Roothy is really pulling out all of the stops on this Milo 2 build, not sure what the body is going to end up like but from the YouTube vids it looks like it will be a single cab ute, but no idea yet what the back end will be like. Maybe another version of his old truck Big Red? Whatever he...
Yeah KLF i see your point on the cab going on before the engine is fully worked over, I know when I rebuilt the 12HT in my 60 it would have been so much easier without a body, but I guess if the bloke is watching the budget and wants to see what the engine can do as is then his approach is ok...
Yeah good Onya George, down in Oz we use 4wd the way they were intended to be used not as bloody concourse displays. I reckon this bloke is gonna build that lux into a bloody offroad weapon. Yeah easy to pick holes in the blokes vids but gotta give it to hm for the work rate and finish.
Not sure where you got the ground up rebuild from Klf, looks to me like this bloke is just trying to do the budget justice. Pull your head in or show us the vids of you doing everything perfect. Down here in Oz we believe what we see not what we read. I could have pulled that picture of a...
Bit harsh KLF, in the vid I am sure he said that the cam cover was only going on temporarily to stock muck getting in there while the body etc. was put back in place. I checked out the other videos on the guys FB page he made it clear that the engine is to be rebuilt at a later date but he...
This install of the 12Ht into a 40 series chassis and the build of the body is really starting to pick up the pace. These guys really know their stuff when it comes to custom work, and seems like it is about to get interesting on the body chop. Looks like they are posting a full series of vids...
Check out this rebuild project on a 1985 2.4l Hilux in Oz. looks like there could be a series of build upon vids coming on this one. Would definitely turbo that poor 2.4l though th.
