1.) Still looking for a F-Manifold if anyone has one.
2.) I have headers on a 77 FJ40 ..would they fit on the F engine?
3.) I might try the gasket shift but I think I tried that last year during my multiple installs and removals.
Thanks,
John
Thanks Texican but how would that correct the misalignment of the exhaust port on the head to the exhaust port on the exhaust manifold?
Is it possible to take the "vertical" warp out of an exhaust manifold or do I need to replace the manifold?
If so does anyone have an F manifold for that...
1971 F Engine with exhaust leak on the most forward cylinder. I removed and replaced the manifold many times, replacing with new gaskets, multigaskets, puttys and planing the head......... with no success.
I finally in a flash of genious......determined the warpness was not a twist or on the...
As Mr. Pinhead and others mentioned(vacuum leak). I had the same problem when the 1/2 inch hose on the bottom of my carb. blue off(vacuum/fuel air ratio change?).
Sounds like you may have found it when you sprayed carb cleaner around and the idle changed. You might be able to narrow it down...
I did not purchase the pressure gauge yet but did find and read another thread about plugging the wire to the wrong sending unit....which I believe I may have done. However, I am now questioning where the oil pressure sending unit is? I thought one of the 2 on the head was the oil sender but...
I'm notpanicking just hoping someone would read my questions before it got buried like yesterday.
I saw your response before regarding buying a real pressure gauge but I, as the one who responded to you then, feel that the gauge that has been on it for the 20 years I've owned it, has been a...
Help please High oil pressure!!!!
I pulled the external relief valve, smoothed out the grooves on the metal piston, re-installed and piston moved smoothly(I don't believe it was binding before but touched it up anyway).
I still have the high oil pressure issue.
Over a span of 5-10...
Doing some investigation on too high oil pressure, as indicated by the re-birth of this thread.
My story.
Ihad replaced the head gasket last year with one that came with a CCOT kit(not that I'm questioning the quality but I've heard stories) and was running the beast for a while and then...
I have always run 31" tires and always calculated 12 MPG over the past 17years but now, with the high gas prices, decided to re-check and have duplicated the 16MPG on 3 consecutive checks/tanks. This is w/ "F" engine, no doors no top, one hignway calculation at 60-65 MPH and 2 work commute...
If the tie rod ends are threaded differently shouldn't they dictate which end of the rod goes where? Unless I am misunderstanding or it's too early in the morning, shouldn't it only work one way?
Good luck,
John
This seems to be the logical easy low cost solution and addresses the root cause.. It's not about low engine idle RPM or having the incorrect alternator it's about low alternator RPM.
My $.02
It sounds like you need to adjust your brakes. The smoke is the heat generated from the brake friction heating the drum and burning off oil and other deposits. The adjustment is that sprocket thing on the wheel cylinder. You'll have to adjust both by placing a small flat head screw driver in the...
