I have the 1981 Toyota Truck Factory Repair Manual, the 1981.5 Factory Maintenance Procedures, and the L Engine (Diesel) Repair Manual. I will sell as a set to a good home. Sold my truck years ago. All are in good condition. $25 plus shipping.
I'm posting this here because it is so...
Sold - they promised to give it the love it deserves
I'm already a bit heartbroken, but I know its all for the best. I could no longer keep up with it. Too many projects, not enough time. It was just sitting, that's the worst thing for them. They need to be driven. He promised to take good...
Still for Sale
Hi all. Truck is still for sale. I'd be willing to keep the ARB and new wheels and tires and sell the truck for less if anyone is interested.
Brad, this truck has been our family car for 16 years. If it had a leak, we fixed it, if something was broken, it was repaired. I have a folder at least an inch thick in maintenance records from the last decade and a half. We have driven it from the Atlanic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean and back...
yournamehere......yes...just like that one only mine was yellow... we called it the Bannan Truck :crybaby:
I love my cruiser but I do hope my marriage lasts longer.
I'm still crying. Hopefully it will get better eventually.
I sold a 1981 toyota diesel pickup a few years back and almost cry everytime I see a similar one now. Fortuantely they are VERY rare....so I don't see them often
I just posted a "want to trade" ad for my beloved cruiser :crybaby: I love the truck so much, we've had it practicaly its whole life, and would gladly keep it forever. It just seems these trucks get less and less practical in the urban jungle that is the DC metro area. Plus the better half...
Want to trade FJ62 for 4Runner or Tacoma
1990 FJ62 has been extremely well maintained first by my father and then by myself (bought in 1991 w/ very low mileage). No leaks. Never failed us. I love this truck, but we need a "family" vehicle that the better half feels comfortable driving. Truck is...

Ok, I don't have a heated garage so I won't be starting my axle rebuild (if I choose to go this route) until the spring. I'll keep you posted. What is the going rate for used gears?
Just a feeler... I have a 1990 FJ62...thinking about going with 4.56. Does anyone out there want to swap thirds? If not would anyone want to buy my 4.11 ring and pinion gears if and when I swap them out? Located in the mid-atlantic region and would not want to spend big$ in shipping.
Well then to explore the re-gear option.... Can anyone scan or send me a copy of the FSM axle rebuild section? I'm farily confident I can pull it all apart, put in the new bearings and seals, but I won't want to set up the gears. Is there anyone that sells third members loaded with 4.56 gears...
I like driving a manual trans and have always prefered the extra control it offers, but I wouldn't consider the swap if there wasn't a need for regearing somewhere in the driveline. Basically my number one goal is to have a truck that is more driveable in everyday conditions. That is...
As far as cost goes I guess I look at it like this. If I dump $1400 plus into a gear job once I'm through I have the same 200,000 mile trans to drive them. If I suck it up and do trans now for say $2500 I'll have a new transmission and have solved my gearing "problem." Also I suppose at some...
I want to do something to improve the overall driveablility of my 1990 FJ62. It has stock 4.11 gears and A440 trans with 33" tires. Will changing axles to 4.56 or droping in an H55F and keeping the stock gears provide greater driveability?
update
Since my last post I went by two shops and got estimates. (FYI SOR.COM has a great exploded schematic of the orginial exhaust which helped explain what I wanted) They both came in with a quote of $350- $400 bucks with me supplying the cat and muffler. I ordered a cat from Summit that...
