Anyone have a special toyota cam shaft pulley tool for doing the timing belt on 4.7v8. I need to borrow one for a few days, amazon ships September 2nd.....I can pay deposit or whatever. I have alot of tools wouldn't mind loaning either of someone needs it.
Followed the FSM as well as Otramm video. Second time doing this, first time in 2015 was on stand and full rebuild. Should be good on top two cams just gotta mess with figuring out compression stroke vs the other stroke now lol
Hey folks, I had a burnt valve and had to do a head removal to take it i to shop. Long story short git this back together and can't get it to start. Cranks and cranks. I took dizzy back out and made double sure alignment was good with the cam and still no go.
I think it has something to do with...
Hello, I finally got my head on and engine back together after a valve job and replacement of two burnt valves.
I can't get this thing to start.
Took plug out made sure was lined up with TDC and distributor was oriented correctly and still won't turn over.
I did notice that after I removed...
I have no reason to believe head or block would have any damage from a leaky valve. If your suggesting this is possible what makes you think so? especially with 20k miles ? If it is, ill be inclined to go with GM lol
I've already rebuilt the entire engine. Five years and 20k miles ago. I played the "while your in there" game. Recently I've chased my tail trying to fix a misfire with lean code #25. Bit the bullet and took it to a good mechanic for the first time. Compression in #3 was 70 while the other 5...
So I took the advice and went to ToyoMasters. They did a great job with diagnostics but unfortunately its bad news. I have low compression in 3rd cylinder. Stuck exhaust valve maybe. Looks like I will need to remove the head again. I will be needing a good machine shop for getting it straight...
I haven't buttoned it back up with loom and tape and can still do this with butt connectors. They are super small wires didnt have any connectors that tiny.
Thanks Zonker, I did find that there's a blue insulated wire that may not have been soldered correctly. I am not very good at it but gave it a shot. I got 12 volts out of two of the 4 now.
