Thank you. That is what I have. I did have to cut out the torque tube and will replace further back. My issue is going under the Toybox to support the driveline. The transfer case front driveline is too close to the frame to be able to weld a mount to it. Trying to figure out how to make this...
I have a 1980 FJ40. It has had the original trany & transfer case until recently where I needed lower gearing for crawling. My question is that I have lengthened the drivetrain about 4-4 1/2”. There was no crossmember to support the drivetrain, will extending it out the 4” make much of a...
I have a split transfer case and am putting it together. The shift lever going to the shift fork operates correctly until I tighten the shift detent ball/spring/bolt on the top of the case down and then it’s not shifting as it should. (It’s like it’s locking up the shift fork). Anyone have any...
I have no idea what shipping would be.
I removed the tank because I changed from leaf springs to coilovers and links. The tank had to be changed to allow for the up travel. I’ve had it for 35 years and as I’ve gotten older wanted a better ride.
If your interested, I would ask for $150 plus...
I don’t know where you are located, I’m in Dallas and I have a gas tank I just removed from my 11/79 FJ40. It is original and in excellent condition if you’re interested.
My differentials are not stock and are 5.29. Looks like I can go with a TC like an Orion with 4.1 which will put me at 77:1, past that is a different trany if I’m understanding correctly.
Does anyone know of anything available for lower gearing? I have a 1980 FJ40, 2F, H42 and was looking for a Marlin Toybox, which I understand they have been discontinued. Does anyone know of anything available to get the ratio in 1st gear to around 100:1?
Just thought I would add to this.... I'm in the middle of doing 4-link in the rear and 3-link in the front. I'm just finishing the rear end, I just put on the coil overs yesterday. Things have gone fairly smoothly so far, a little more fab work than I expected but nothing too out of hand. I...
I'm heading across hwy 287 in New Mexico passing through Mt Dora, next town is Grenville right now in my 1980 FJ40 heading to Colorado and thought of this post. Living the dream!
I went through two aftermarket cylinders from CCOT in two years. I had my original Toyota one for 16 years. I replaced my third with a Toyota, I've had now it two years with no problems. The extra money is well spent in this situation.
